not that I'm pulling an izzo (whining), but what are the rules for a student section and targeting a player?

I was surprised to see the well publicized note on swanigan by the izzone, because I thought for sure the NCAA discouraged that kind of stuff. Am I dreaming or didn't the paint crew use to do stuff like that, but stopped cause of rules against it?

Izzone yelled "I hope you tear your ACL again Robbie"
Dawson jaws to Painter after hitting a shot one year
IU fans make fun of Isaac's special needs sister

But Izzo has to premptively whine to the B1G office so that the Paint Crew doesn't heckle Dawson. You're not dreaming, the reality is that the B1G is hypocritical.

I was confused watching Biggie play his game without taunting the crowd, punching a Spartan in the junk or woofing at Izzo.

Didn't even think about Painter not crying to the league office about making the student section not say mean things...

The Dookies do this for every game. Hand out an entire sheet with notes on every player.

Biggie ate it up like one of his nutritious snacks/meals.....fitting that he dribbled out the clock.
Biggie is a warrior. When other great players are not quite the warrior and commit to a loaded team, Biggie wanted to make his team great and take on the others. Some players buckle and some players strengthen when confronted with adversity. Said as much when he committed. Kid is a made player that could be a freshman and mature beyond his years

Personally I don't have much of a problem with anything I heard over the TV last night and I also don't think you can hold an entire student section responsible for a few classless comments that were delivered individually. I guess I'm a little old-school in this regard. I remember this gem from Dan Dakich back when Eric Gordon played at Illinois:

To break the ice pregame, Indiana assistant coach Dan Dakich told Gordon, "If you're worried about some engineering student from Wilmette in an orange shirt, you're not as tough as I thought you were."

I've never been one to believe that everyone has the right to not be offended or get their feelings hurt. People are sometimes going to say things that are rude, unkind, or even hurtful and that's ok. You can't control that. You can control your reaction to it though.

This, TC. Let them taunt. It's what rowdy college sports environments are all about. As long as there are no overly vulger organized chants, I'm fine with it. And that restriction has more to do with simple decency and creating an environment I can bring my family to as a fan than it does the players' feelings. At this level they need to be mentally tough. It's an important attribute, just like shooting, passing, or dribbling.

Biggie is an amazing story. This has been printed before but here it is again from ESPN

The information about Biggie living alone, off campus in a room paid for by Rosie, and having to take great care with his diet was news to me. I read a disparaging comment attributed to someone at MSU, that Biggie demanded a personal chef, not true, and that Izzo refused to do that.

While the personal chef story was not true, as with most rumors it was an embellishment of a speck of truth. The truth in this case being the special conditions granted for a recruit of Biggie's caliber. While those conditions were nothing illegal and were for good reasons, this just goes to show that Purdue is willing to play ball within the letter of the law when it comes to recruiting. I take that as a positive, as it means our program is not a such a recruiting disadvantage as some would have you believe. Sure, the Louisville's of the world are going to cross lines we won't cross, but our program isn't afraid of 'playing the game' for recruits, and we shouldn't be.

Establishing a custom diet for health reasons isn't close to a violation of any kind.

Wow, I had never heard of that incident but found an old article on the web. That's about as cold-hearted as it gets.
It does get bigger when you click on it. Yeah, its a game people...not life and death.
