Marquette vs. Purdue MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

What’s there to get in their grill about? They missed shots, it happens, no reason to get in their grill after beating the 11,7,4 teams in the nation.
There is some mental part in shooting and getting into the grill I'm not sure helps them shoot better...I suspect worse. Getting into their grill if they take bad shots is different, but if shooting under pressure is the topic...getting in their grill I doubt is the best answer

We won't see anything in the B1G like we just saw in these past 2 games. Arizona and Alabama will be good tests also. Love the toughness.

Tape of this tourney will show the rest how to beat us. But only a few will have the personnel to execute the pressure. Got to keep improving. Staying injury free & the development of Colvin & Heide will be key to the season.

effectiveness of pressure was a non issue first half for the most part, but when the refs let it go more physical in the second before they started calling it tighter again and the fatigue set in...it became an issue for the team. Not going to play 3 days in a row against great teams and that Tenn wrestling match had to wear on Purdue.

I know the legs were gone, but we need every player to shoot 10,000 Free Throws before our next game.

Next 2-3 games should be an opportunity for Colvin and Heide to get some real minutes. Absolutely no reason to see Morton even take off his warm ups. Not that I dislike him, but the kids need seasoning and he is a senior.

you know you will be called a hater

Morton should only play in emergencies.

Every min we can get heide and colvin is whats important now. We are going to need athletes and shooters in march and both of those are those 2 things.

MUST develop them in the big ten season. Big ten is extremely weak this year. Illinois and MSU may be the only other teams to make the ncaa tourney. Make sure to win our conf games but let the young guys play as much as possible

Enough with the Morton hate. Just stop. Painter knows the situation and is playing him at just the right times, when he needs a defensive stop or a ball handler with fresh legs. Morton is doing his job just right.

I don’t get what’s so different from Gillis/Morton and newman. Newman transferred out for a big upgrade in Jones. Credit to painter. Could have done the same with those two

Against cupcakes? Yes please. More Colvin and Heide. Look I hear you, but the championship game of the Maui Invitational is NOT the time to be giving freshmen teaching lessons. Colvin played 4 minutes today. His D just isn't there yet and it's pretty obvious to some of us.

Agree. They will have their time in crunch minutes but our upper classmen should be in there.

Both TN & M effectively extended our guard play way out with pressure which was disruptive to our Offense. Poor reffing helped on both occasions, but you'll have that.

We will see that from here on. It worked. It will be tried again. Prob only a few B10 teams have anywhere close to the personnel of what we saw in this tourney to give it a real go. But we will see it if coaches are worth their salt.

Good news is - that will be great for the Boilers to practice against to prepare for March.
