Hate to say it, but I agree. Maybe PJ though if he was running offensive. The game plan to force it to TKR on 2nd half killed the offense. Loyer needed to get the ball more coming off screens/curls. He was hot and didn't even look to him in 2nd half.

Team lacked energy and T AM was ready to play and deserved the win.

Smith/TKR/Bonehead TOs are unacceptable too.

Silver lining is playing this bad, TAM shot the best they have all year, and still kept it close.

Payne only played that hard because Edey abused him the past 2 years. He is not that good. That's how it rolls sometimes 🤷‍♂️

flat footed as in TKR, plays below the rim , Payne would have been a nice addition to our team. The Sleepers guys will have a field day w/ TKR's play today

Don’t have the ball handlers to handle good man D. Colvin, Heide and Loyer are all basically spot up shooters in the half court.

I would like to see Myles learn the 4 in addition to him playing the 3 should Cam struggle and Myles not. I would like to see Cox continue to learn the 2 should Fletch struggle, but more to push fletch to the 3 should Myles struggle. Bottom line more ways to get scoring on the court if Myles and Cam aren’t looking at the basket

The ghost of #15 still haunts Purdue offensively— our bench HAS to grow up and contribute!!

Along with trusting that bench. If the starters are struggling to get the sets established bring in some bench players. To many lengthy droughts where the offense wasn't flowing and we didn't try anything else until it was too late.

Hopefully that athletic team shoots like an athletic team rather than a skilled team, but if they shoot like a skilled team Purdue will probably go home . None of that changes Purdue’s history of being flat. Most of Purdues turnovers were sleep walking. That was a very old team who played D well in the half court…and shot well

Exactly. Hopefully it makes them better. So far have struggled mightily against the better defensive teams though. Hopefully the coaching staff realizes PnR or forcing to undersized center is not how you beat a top 25 defense.

I really think they might just need to push tempo and shoot 40 3s. Grinding out the half court to a bad shot or TO is exactly what these physical defensive teams want.....Just let Heide, Smith, Colvin, Loyer, Cox rip the first good look from 3 they get. Loosen the D and then go to PnR or TKR.

Half court. We don’t have the roster to punish a team that is overly aggressive. Also, I would still say both of them. For the same reason.

14 offensive boards plus their solid D that frustrated TKR were the main reasons we lost.

There were 2 plays that I find disturbing. One went against Purdue and one went against A&M. In both plays the ball is lose and one player is running to the ball when the opposing player dives for the ball from behind taking out the legs of the player closest to the ball. That is dangerous and should be called a foul every time. Both Braden and one of the A&M players were lucky they weren't injured. Does a lose ball give diving players immunity?

No depth and short on bigs, looks to me like a team that will lose quite a few road Big Ten games this year. Painter needs to hit the portal next year, I know he doesn’t like to but it’s a must.

I think Braden, TKR, and Fletch all had some mental mistakes that lead to TOs.

If your leaders have 10 or so of those combined, you won't beat many good teams.

It wasn’t turnovers, it was just aggressive defense that we couldn’t break free from. Like how many successfully run plays did you see us run this game? Maybe 3, all at the end of the game? It felt like blown up set after blown up set. But again, it just feels like we have an incomplete team that is going to struggle when Braden gets doubled, so I’m not sure how to fix it or what you are going for?

Their pressure forced turnovers by wearing Purdue out ( physically and mentally), pushing Purdue late into the clock and by being bigger, stronger, and more athletic. Yes, Purdue made some bad/ weak passes, but A&M had something to do with that. Being able to bring an athletic six-nine Payne off the bench for 16&9 was a major factor. Purdue's entire bench got 10&2.

Small ball with Tkr at center is not going to beat any top 10 teams. Tkr is a 4. Heide, Myles and Harris are not a 4.

We may have some great athletes, but they all play the same position. Burg, Furst and Burgess unfortunately are not the answer at the 5, and for that matter neither is Tkr.

There is a reason why smith has so many turnovers. He’s trying to do too much and he doesn’t have Edey to throw to.

yep, but only if one player clearly fouls in pursuit like you describe. There were a lot of players down on the court today. Marty Echelbarger who coached many places used to run a drill where the walls were out of bounds to bring some aggression to his players. Every now and then you have to remind players to slow down when around the bleachers or walls because you don't want someone hurt.

Won some close ones, guess law of averages was working against us. But feel TXAM was better team today on defense and especially rebounding. They shot the 3 well 41% for their normal average of 30%

They were the better team as was Purdue quite a few times in the classic, but for many decades it seems more often than not Purdue is just not sharp during final times. Years ago Purdue played cupcakes at that time in their tourney and so they got by. Make no mistake..A&M was the better team almost the whole game. Purdue never really did get in a groove and seemed to miss a lot of 3s along with stupid passes above and beyond the one that were turnovers, but I haven't seen the final stats. I do know Myles shot long to start the game and there was no fatigue what so ever at that point. Myles hasn't seem to shoot as well this year now that he has a bigger role.

Growing pains….

IMO we’re slowly adjusting to no cheat code in the paint, and to countering pressure defenses.

Purdue remains a work in progress.

For all the pining for Mason Gillis, I tink Purdue misses Jacobsen more.

No doubt . Staying in front of better athletes is generally a weakness for Purdue. Zach, Hammonds, Haarms, Hass, helped to mitigate that. Nobody to do that on this team.
