Anyone have some real scoop on this? Last I heard was that he probably could have gone against Lehigh if necessary and is more than 50% likely to play tonight.

We can win without him, but it would sure make things better with him on the floor.

Knowing Davis and his competitive spirit, I'll bet he dresses and sees how the knee feels during warmups. If he is good to go, he needs to start to keep the knee warm and a bike should be kept near the bench when he is taken out to stay warm. Davis at 75% still gives us a leader and floor general out on the floor. If it is obvious he is struggling, no reason to keep playing him and let him be a vocal leader on the bench.

If he goes, I hope he is fully recovered. I sprained my knee in college and thought it was ok... then a few plays later I tore my MCL and my ACL and it took over a year to recover. I know they have good strength coaches now at Purdue, so hopefully this is just me worrying.

Yes I agree. I want him to play as he could be the difference in a W or L, however, him tearing an ACL and being out for the year would be must more devastating than a loss to Pitt.

I'm not a doctor, so I have no clue if his current injury translates into a higher risk for a more serious tear. I just hope the doctors play it a little safe.

It's been a week, I say rest him, don't risk it. We need him for Feb/March/April...
Big game, but have to look at the bigger picture..

Even if he is ready to go, a good strategy might be to see how the team does without him for the first 5-10 minutes. If Pitt turns out to be a tough matchup and Davis is 100% ready to go, then bring him off the bench. But there's no reason to take any extra risk if Pitt looks manageable.

Exactly. Error on the side of caution if ANY doubt.

Concise, logical …….frankly spot on!

I hope he doesn't play unless he's at 100%. I know nothing about knee injuries. What I do know is I see too many guys like him - team players with incredible drive - try to come back from injury too soon. I'd love to beat Pitt. I'll gladly take a Pitt loss for a healthy Davis come March.

I don't think he'll go unless he's 100%. First, I don't think he wants to risk worsening the injury and second, I'm not sure a 75% Ray is going to be any better than a 100% someone else.

Just like an NFL QB, the coach isn't going to play him unless he's near 100% and shows it in practice.
