not about Appleby, Shoop or any of the countless other game "what ifs". This comment is about how utterly accomodating the folks in Huntington were. I lost count, but I must have been stopped by total strangers 20-30 times thanking me for coming to their city or hoping I was enjoying my time in there. My seat was in the middle of a sea of green, but everyone around me was friendly and solid football fans. And one more final comment. Their "We are"/"Mar-shall" cheer gets both side of their stadium shaking and it's so contageous I almost found myself joining in also late in the game. If the game had ended after fifty minutes, I would have come home a very happy Boiler.

Glad you enjoyed your visit here. The majority of us will likely be pulling for you guys throughout the year. Losses are always frustrating but there's a lot to like on your team.

Did you sample any of our local cuisine?

Ever read Hansel and Gretel? Just saying...

Thank you for coming and glad you were treated well.

We made the trip to Purdue in 2012 and had a good time. Nobody really talked to us or said a word to us the entire time we were there but we still had fun. That's not a criticism. I just it's simply a cultural difference or a conference difference. I'm not sure which. I notice several of your fans seemed uncomfortable when I wished them well yesterday. It was like they weren't used to opposing fans talking to them respectfully.

Bluegrass I'm glad you had a positive experience (other than the loss). I believe I communicated with you on this board before you came. Two of my dearest friends made the trip from West Lafayette and had a great time (again except for the loss). Everyone always wants to win and always look for negatives when they lose. Purdue winning football will return. We once endured nearly twenty years of loosing following the plane crash and almost dropped the sport. Hang in and jeep cheering the Boilers on. Good luck the rest of the way.

The Purdue fans we spoke to were great. They showed the class you would expect from people representing a very proud and respected university. Glad you had a good experience in Huntington.

I must have talked or welcomed at least 150 Boiler fans. Enjoyed them and they seemed to appreciate my welcome.
I too was at your place in '12 and had a good experience. I love the series and hope sometime it can be renewed.

"Cuisine" might be a stretch, but did certainly enjoy our Alumni Tailgate at Buddy's BBQ. And the stadium sno-cones kept me cool on such a hot day

Should have come by our tailgate in 2012, we would have welcomed you, with shots and barbecue!

Honestly, most Purdue football fans are probably a little defensive about how our once proud program has been destroyed so quickly by a penny-pinching BOT, a clueless President (maybe 2), and an AD who places more importance on women's softball. Plus, we live in a world dominated by the biggest jackturd fans in D1 history, IU basketball and ND football, 90% of which can't read, let alone name the university associated with their favorite team! So yes, we can come off as defense sometimes. Please forgive, and thanks for being good sports!

Had the exact same experience as Bluegrass Boiler. We tailgated right across the street from the stadium so tons of fans passed us all day long and none were rude, all were friendly and some almost scarily so. A drunk guy came by and handed out pints of some kind of moonshine (bought at the gas station - not his own kind of home brew). Wouldn't even take a burger in return...

Fun trip

I hope you stopped by that gas station on your way home!
He told us that he bought them out of that particular brand of 'shine, but if you get to the shot table early enough on Saturday, Kirsten may still have a pint of the "blue" flavored kind...

Some of the local restaurants are regarded quite highly. Fat Patty's, Jim's Spaghetti House, Rocco's, and Hillbilly Hot Dogs are all worth stopping in at if you ever make it back here. Again, glad you were treated well.
