Jumping off the burning ship.

I think this isn't THAT big of a deal. Wasn't recruiting that well anyhow.

It would suck though if our 2 decent OL commits decided to go elsewhere though.

How is his recruiting his fault? Just curious. He can be the best recruiter in the world, Purdue is kind of (REALLY) a hard sell. We have early playing time. We will have average facilities by your junior year. Academics? I am not sure how many kids truly view that as a great thing unless we offer a very unique program. Weather? No. Entertainment options? No. Recent record of success? No. Stable coaching situation? No. Exciting scheme? Not sure yet as we have two new coordinators three years in. I am more concerned how they are as evaluators and developers of talent over their "closing" skills at this time.

Anyway the departure for probably similar money at Duke is a direct correlation that he does not like the direction of the program.

You didn't see him as part of the problem? I sure did.

Just a weird situation where it is equally unsurprising to see any of our coaches promoted, fired, or leaving for another job due to all of the blah on both sides of the football.

Protection in the Shoop scheme was illogical and a bigger part of the problem. Pass blocking wasn't great, but the route combinations, combined with the drops and the 1:1 matchups did not help. They also paved the way for a solid freshman running back.

Anyone know the status of Jalen Neal?
Bridge of Sighs, another coach gone but don't blame them. I remember when we got him, some osu guys posted he never developed players that much. I just hope this doesn't affect the decisions made by Campbell, Powell, and Criddle.

Our OL was awful. new blood can't make it worse although I am not sure what HS coaches might be floating around interested in the job.

Powell decommitted. This hurts. Was it because of Bridge? He was our highest rated recruit. Also, I believe he was our center in this class, which center is the hardest to recruit on the OL.

Starting to buy the rat jumping the sinking ship angle. And now the OL recruits are following into the water. Just when you think the program has hit rock bottom...

The thing is, and I'm unsure at this point what the route would be, but do you start offering some guys who don't have any business being in the B1G to simply fill the class so you have plenty of bodies or do you roll those scholarships over? I would think that would create even bigger balance issues in recruiting for the future.

Time to raid Bowling Green again! ;)

I'm just so unsure of what is going to happen with this class. I could be sold on player development if we were at Boise State, Navy, or even Northwestern but not at Purdue.

Currently, Purdue ranks 78th in recruiting placing ahead of other Power 5 teams Georgia Tech (83), Colorado (89), Syracuse (90), Indiana (92), Kansas (100). That includes the loss of Dylan Powell as well and you would have to think another one may end up leaving when another FBS program offers when their priorities commit elsewhere.

The big hurt here is that had Purdue put the work in with local OL Coy Cronk (who is a top 50 at his position player!), Purdue could have grabbed one of IU's highest rated recruits. I do know that Shoop desperately wanted Cronk but Hazell wouldn't give the clearance on extending an offer.

I don't think you just fill a class with bodies. Painter did that a few times, and it got him in trouble. He has finally righted that ship. I think Hope did that too much too, which is how all this trouble started. Of course, Tiller might have done this a little with his last class or so too, but not to the extent that Hope did. We cannot try to make every 2 star a 4 star by the time they graduate. We got lucky so much with this with Tiller that we assume it happens with all recruits now. We had better coaches that made this happen in the past. No comment on the prior Hazell coaches. Hopefully the new ones are the start of righting the football program. We will see.

We are only ahead of those 5 schools because they all only have 10-12 commits and we have 15. They all have a higher per recruit average.

He was looking around before bridge left. 2-10 tends to shake a recruits commitment

Only team we could raid is Wabash at this point.

Nothing against the kid, but from what I am hearing is that Anthrop was heading to Marian College before the offer from Purdue came through. Now, I think it is conditional and seems like a preferred walk-on type of offer but still.

I try and try to give CDH the benefit of the doubt but places like Kentucky are landing 4 and 5 star recruits. They have far less history than Purdue does.
