I know we had some rough teams in the eighties, however we still produced some big time talent in the NFL off those squads. I don't think any of our players would start anywhere else in the conference, possibly at Rutgers or IU.

Just getting everyone's thoughts.

I think this team would beat up the 2013 team. But that is about it.

yes worst ever, but improving according to some who like to call others "dumb", to me not improving, I think most on the team wish the season was over

I agree.I don't think this team is lacking in talent as the record indicates.I am still hoping for a completely different staff next yearand if all of the current players stay,I think next year,we can see some better results..

The Hazell era is the worst three years in Purdue football history. He has 2 Div 1-A wins in three years. Purdue did not used to play schools from the lower divisions, and soon they will not again.

It is staggering how bad we actually are. From a statistical standpoint, there clearly is something getting in the way of our performance. Given our past performances over many years, random chance should allow us to be significantly more successful.

I have written this before, but there is something called "special cause" going on here. I think it begins with Morgan and his under investment in the program relative to others Div 1-A schools and certainly Big Ten schools. Or Morgan has simply hired terrible coaches to oversee the football program. Whatever the root cause, the entire "football system" at Purdue needs a make-over.

So far if the trend continues, Darrel Hazell can lay claim to a Purdue record. The worst 3 year stretch in Purdue History.

Those 80's Purdue teams (for which I had season tickets) were not very good, but they pale in comparison to the ineptitude of the program and teams under CDH. JMHO

I'd really like to see CDH succeed, and I believe he is an honest and good man......just well in over his head, and I don't see much light ahead given the way recruiting has gone. I've turned to humor to deal with the frustration of where the program is and is headed in the near future, off the rails

Not that ESPN is the gold standard these days, but interestingly, Coach Hazell is #2 on the Hot Seat list:

"2. Darrell Hazell, Purdue The Boilermakers have limped to a 1-6 start, dropping Hazell's three-year record to 5-26, 1-18 in the Big Ten. Three of his five victories came against FCS foes."

#1 is O'Leary @ Central Florida, 0-7 this year. #5 is Flood @ Rutgers, a "paltry" 25-18 in 3+ seasons.

Good point but a train wreck is a train wreck, I'm afraid:

30 years seems like a long time until you realize you'be been a Boilermaker since 1964. Hands down this is the worst for 51 years.
