this is all about helping Tyra save face, because Brohm loves Louisville, and may coach there someday and Tyra could be his boss. All this leaking that it's such a tough, emotional decision etc etc.. No way he's flying across country knowing he'll be leaving and continuing to recruit every day for Purdue. Ignore all the words and only look at actions. There would of been a team meeting called today, and players would be leaking it out on twitter... No way Jeff Brohm is leaving. I'm 99.9999999% certain.

I agree. If Brohm came out and said he was not a candidate before Louisville actually hires someone, all the recruits would be gone. This give the new coach a chance to retain the remaining ones.

and they have until Wednesday afternoon to come with their plan b...

I'm with you on this. Would not be on the recruiting trail on Purdue's dime while taking UofL job. That would be an ethics issue for sure. I don't see past actions of CJB that would indicate he is not an ethical man. Words spoken by players and others have been, "Family, man of his word, etc" all indicate CJB is Ethical.
Hitting the recruiting trail hard for Purdue tells me he is staying.

Just gonna leave this here. I am signing off for the day and not checking on it until I get home from work.

All leaks, news, speculation have always come from Louisville media which tells you all you need to know because last year it was Tennessee media doing all the reporting too.

It’s not an ethical issue. He is the HC at Purdue until he isn’t. Considering future employment at the same time you do your current job isn’t unethical.

Brohm has known about this opening for a couple of weeks. No way, he needed until today to make a decision. No way, he countinues to recruit cross country for Purdue. We'll all know plan b soon enough.

You’re addressing a different issue.

First let me be clear I believe Jeff from is recruiting for Purdue.

Would it be unethical to use one schools money to recruit for your new school?

It's not. It is an ethical issue to go recruit players for your current employer when you know you're not going to be there coach, but you're presenting yourself as you will.
You have a point of view that his decision has been made prior to today. I doubt you know that.

In your hypothetical Jeff Brohm has made his decision prior to today. Does considering the Louisville job mean that he must suspend all Purdue coaching activity?

And yes, if you agreed to coach a different team and started recruiting to it under the auspices of your prior team it would be unethical.

Yes. I don’t think anyone could make a good argument for him recruiting for Louisville while being paid by Purdue as being even remotely ethical.

You're right. That's why I'm only 99.9999999% certain.
So, is it ethical to take a meeting with a prospective employer if you’re 100% certain you won’t take the job? I’m assuming your .00000001 uncertainty is based on your lack of knowledge about Jeff Brohm’s thoughts and you believe he has been 100% certain not to leave for some time.

You don't consider this job for 3 weeks. I don't think this job is about the details. I think Tyra let out a grain in truth when he talked about it needing to be about the right timing for both parties, and Brohm was happy at Purdue. No, he didn't suspend all activity, because he knew what was coming with two weeks left in the season. It gave him plenty of time to reflect on the offer the would be coming, and continue to coach Purdue. This job offer wasn't about numbers, but about timing...

Yes, if you love that employer and want them to help save face, and you might go there to work someday.

You have to consider Brohm hasn't ever indicated to Purdue, Purdue players, or future recruits, that he isn't going to be the coach at Purdue.

I can live with that. To me, even if he leaves I will believe he acted ethically in continuing to work hard at his current job recruiting for Purdue. Nothing indicates that he’s remotely selling anything about the program short. I can’t ignore the remote possibility that something will break down with Purdue or who knows what. Way stranger things have happened to Purdue. I’m less than 99.9999999% sure he stays, but better than 50/50.
