Illinois- Purdue Game Discussion Thread

Good thing that QB recruit was there to watch brohm bench the qb for a walk on. Get chewed out when the play call was trash. All on coach.

I've been 100% in love with Brohm. But jesus dude get a grip.

Yeah, let's keep playing a QB that isn't getting the job done today and coddle them...

Plummer is a freshman. His receivers and ground game provided him little help today. The offensive line is a work in progress. I am not a fan of the emotional outbursts continually directed at the QBs. That’s not how you encourage and develop a young QB.

Good thing they will not be taping Brohm's talk to the team after this game. Jeff looks like he might be breaking some things in the locker room the way he looked running off the field.

That's the QB he recruited and praised in the off season. Excuses and scape goat for a coach not producing results.

Yeah, that pick six and fumble shouldn't be questioned. Are you one of those guys who want participation trophies for all? Just because he yelled at him and benched him for not protecting the football in what should have been a low scoring game, doesn't mean he isn't being developed. Today, Plummer directly accounted for 14 Illini points with his turnovers. That's not a "scapegoat"...

Lol ok big guy. Do you not see how that can come across to the 4 star QB recruit at the game. **** up once and benched. It's not like the team was lighting it up. It's a total dumpster fire not just one player. Pretty sure top tier QBs even have bad games. The image of putting a walk on shows the team is a shit show.

Give me a break. If that keeps Hornsby from coming to Purdue, do we really want him?

If we don't get 7 to 8 wins next year, fans will start to question this hire. Simple as that...

they will not question the hire. What they will question is the outrageous contract extension given to a coach coming off a 6-7 year with a blow-out bowl game loss.

the Dallas Cowboys had a chance to use their top draft pick to draft a premier skill player several years ago. Instead, they used that pick to draft the best offensive lineman they could find. And that turned their fortunes around. You build a team success around your o and d line rather than skill position players. on a day like today with bad weather conditions, having a great o-line and grinding it out would have won this game rather than continuing to air it out. There is a reason Air Coryell with Dan Fouts as his QB were never a very successful team.

Both turnovers probably because Brohm was calling for Plummer to run. The play before the interception Plummer got hammered by a 300+ DT, could have easily contributed.

After decades of watching football, I believe more and more that “the game is won and lost in the trenches”.

They mentioned this on the radio broadcast. The gloves work well when it’s dry, but in the monsoon conditions they just become slick. Don’t think it could’ve got any worse to try them out after a few of those drops.

Interesting. Both the Michigan and Notre Dame guys are wearing gloves. Michigan players seem to be catching the ball just fine...

Yep, Kitchell made the comment on the radio that the Illinois players were wearing them as well. Like I said, after the first couple drops it may have been worth a try.
