Back to our normal kind of play, down quickly 26-11 in the second quarter. Although only 4 TO's so far. 39-24 at the half. Final 77-57. A very disappointing season. So many games we weren't competitive. Probably B10 tourney out of reach as well since Rutgers was up on Penn State. Now, what happens? Will we have people leave? Will we have commits de-commit? Can we even get someone decent out of the portal or even try?

Gals are hustling, playing with energy - execution is hit and miss for sure - I just hope they can make a game of it. Regardless of how we feel about the coaching, these young women deserve some support and props for hanging in there during a very rough season.

I’m happy to see the spark in their approach to the game today.
McCarthy playing hard and having some success - good to see.

Crowd with a lot of IU fans there… not surprised but ugh!

Gotta head out for prior commitment. Will check the r score when I can. Good luck Lady Boilers - leave it all in the floor!

77-57 final IU wins. Rutgers up 9 on PSU with under 5 left in the game so it looks like the season is over, THANKFULLY.

IU is weak up front, so of course we start Bass so we can be just as weak as IU. One of IU's best players is Garzon so of course we put Collier on her. I swear a drunk squirrel could make better coaching decisions than this staff does.

Thankfully, this is the last time we have to put up with your ragging on Bass and Collier...it's not their fault we had the season we did.

Their fault, no. But when you sign up to play Big Ten basketball it comes with expectations. When you are utterly unable to compete at this level, you should expect to be criticized for it. Its certainly a much larger indictment of our coaches that players that are so obviously not capable of playing at this level start and play huge minutes while younger players who are better and need the development time waste away on the bench.

Attitudes like yours are a large part of why we kept Versyp for 15 years, because we don't want to be critical of the players or coach, we will just hold our rosary tighter and pray next season is miraculously better when all evidence shows the coaching staff is at their ceiling already. Not trying to attack you personally, but I get frustrated by the attitude "don't criticize them, they're just girls and they are doing their best!". Its a losers attitude and its why Purdue is a loser program and has been for over a decade.

I suggest you go back and review/read my posts regarding the coach. I've indicated on multiple occasions that I'm ready to move on from this experiment, pay the buyout and get started on the new era. Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that will happen. However, there is no reason to rag on these two on Senior Day.

Which young player wasted away on the bench. Not Jones, not Swanson, not Laden the time she was healthy. The freshmen McCarthy and Peryear both played over 17 minutes per game which were reduced by their tendebcy to get themselves in foul trouble. The points Renolds and Poole were injured most of the season and the older Renolds was injured all season. So I honestly have bo idea what you mean. It was a long and trying season for all parties involved, and thankfully it is over. With a 10 and 19 win-loss record I doubt Purdue is invited to any postseason tournament. Wait till next season...

I think Swanson, Layden, and Jones could have all had another 5-8 minutes a night instead of the ineffective portal players, and starting the portal ineffectual players? Ridiculous IMHO.

Yes, I would have like Jones and Swanson to play more minutes. Laden was hobbled by injuries all year so I think her minutes were about right. All the underclassmen played and all showed some strengths, relatively speaking. But saying they wasted on the bench is stretching it a bit. Here is to hoping they all come back next season.

Yeah, I think saying that Bass and Collier are "utterly incapable of competing" in the B1G is a little over the top.

Neither were game changers, that's true. (I didn't necessarily expect Bass to be. And I definitely didn't expect Collier to be.) Both were asked to do more than they realistically could. That's more on the coaching staff than the players. Still, for all her defensive liabilities, Collier did shoot 41% from three. No player does that is utterly incapable.

Ideally Bass was a 6-7th type player, Collier a speciality one, I have zero problem with them being here, it’s not their fault that they were asked to play thus many minutes. I agree, they surely didn’t deserve the wrath and scorn, I’m sure they gave their all. In the postgame Coach mentioned getting better players in the portal, I hope this is true, picking up girls that averaged 8 and 5 at a MAC school is fine if they’re practice players 10-12 player types, they shouldn’t be starting though.

Agree, but Bass was a 16/10 player last year at Akron. I honestly thought she'd do more at Purdue. But I never saw her as a magic bullet.

Bass was a double double player her last two years at Akron. Collier should not have been recruited as she physically is so overmatched there are VERY few Big Ten wings she can defend adequately. It hurts even more that she is so passive on both ends of the floor. Yeah she hits a good percentage on her threes, but she shoots such a very low volume per minutes played she cannot be considered anything but a non-existent player on both ends of the floor. Some think I have been hard on the portal players, but if this was the men's team with starters playing that way, do you think anyone would be chiming in to say, "hey, they are trying, just be happy to watch them stand around doing nothing"??? If not, why are we treating the women's team like little china dolls not deserving of criticisms unless you think women are not to be treated equally???

Good point, although the 4 transfers were brought in, none of them really took away developmental time from our underclassmen. Swanson averaged 19.2 mins before this last game, so you could say she could of used another 5-7 mins, but is she really going to be a ton better if she had gotten 5-7 more mins a game? That's tough to tell or see. Maybe she's more worn down, she also had a knack for picking up alot of fouls too. She fouled out 6 times this season haha.

In hindsight, knowing how bad this season went, I wish CKG would of gotten a couple multi year transfers instead, even if they weren't ready to contribute as much as our 5th year transfers did.

I believe CKG would have gotten multi- year transfers if she could. She was shopping out of the clearance bin because the quality transfers were not interested in coming to a mediocre at best team and coach.
