Purdue is undefeated when it attempts more FT's than it's opponent. I can't remember if I heard it during a broadcast or read it on GBI in one of the stat-heavy weekly write up's, but I want to say the stat was Purdue is 17-0 when attempting more FT's than it's opponent, meaning they're 2-11 if they do not.
That's a remarkable stat if accurate, since the Boilers are a pretty awful FT shooting team, and it's simply about attempts and not even about makes.
I translate it to mean if Purdue drives to the hoop and successfully feeds the post, they'll win, if they don't, they won't. Sure an assist from the ref's can't hurt, but like the game at Wisc which had a huge negative FT disparity, you must take the fight to the opponent if you want the chance to get the calls.
