Steps for Painter to take on Defense, Offense & Recruiting to fix this program

I think the system is successful but not with the current players. This team can't hit high enough 3p% in important games. Two years in a row Purdue has lost almost the exact same game, low 3p% and high turnovers.

The same thing will probably happen next year unless something changes, I don't think the addition of Colvin is enough.

Having all of the guards and wings with a 3 point rate higher than 66% doesn't work. It's clear that they can't attack the rim at all and that's why 2/3 of their shots are 3s.

In the games we lost this year we blew a lot of wide open 3s, or turned the ball over a ton. Personnel was certainly a problem. We need a couple players that can knock down open 3's at a very high clip for our current system of feed the post and toss it out for the open 3 on the double or score a 2 if they don't. The 3's were falling early in the season for Fletcher, when they stopped we didn't have anyone else that could hit wide open shots consistently.

A shot creator would allow us to have coverage for those games when the 3's aren't falling, so hopefully Colvin ends up being able to contribute early like our freshmen this year.
