Ewing with the team and practicing....

While a kid will occasionally red shirt I just don't see many kids anymore who do it freshman year. When they do it is usually bigs that need weight, shooting or some other totally weak aspect f their game. In our day it was pretty common.
5th year transfer makes redshirting not so valuable for the college. The school is not guaranteed to earn the reward of redshirting a player.

You hit the nail right on the head...I would prefer that it would be modified to read if you graduated in three years or less counting the redshirt year, I would also prefer that the NBA would adopt the MLB drafting rules also!

And yes I realize Purdue has benefited quite a lot from the current transfer rule as it is now!

Well said. Everything in basketball is a skill. Rebounding in traffic is a skill, not just a matter of athleticism. Finishing in traffic is a skill, not just a matter of jumping high. If there weren't skill involved, every player over six-seven with a decent vertical would dunk on every play.

It involves body control, angles, timing one's jump, split-second adjustments while in the air, hand strength, concentration, the ability to power through contact, and a half dozen other factors that some players develop and quite a few don't.

Not sure why folks are nit-picking over that comment, but I'm really glad to hear Ewing is exhibiting that ability.
Ben Shadeland, it's nice to read something intelligent and positive about a guy who most feel will be a positive contributor this season. All to often some folks just fall all over themselves to be the first to say something negative, I don't know why guys do this, but they do. Thanks for your positive input.
