I think it must have been when I was in a coma or out of the country or something as I totally did not recognize the name even though I watched the games from Taipei. Probably misheard the name and thought it was someone else.

So what's the news on Booker? My Netscape was down yesterday, so I think I missed the announcement.

That assumes that he doesn't learn the offense and defense. He was a late arrival this summer and he hasn't had much time to learn yet. If he doesn't know his on court responsibilities by January, that's an entirely different story.
It tells me that Eifert played like he should be on scholarship and that Painter values his hustle, experience, and decision-making.
Ewing joined the team late. He'll be fine once he gets time with the team and learns the system. I was impressed with his lateral mobility for his size.
octeus didn't arrive til how late? if he was talented enough he would have earned more minutes. not saying he won't eventually but based purely on the tapei trip i will be very surprised if he sees significant playing time this year.
Not only was Jon Octeus an unusually mature player, but he had the benefit of being coached by Larry Eustachy prior to coming to Purdue.
And you are making all of these authoritative statements after admitting you didn't watch the games. Got it.
Where did I "admit I didn't watch the games"? I said i didn't get to see him play, and that was because he was never on the court the games I did watch. . so now you've resorted to putting words in my mouth. got it.
Octeus was a 5th year transfer Ewing is a junior - 2 more years make a world of difference.
You brought up Octeus as a comparison. My point is that the Octeus comparison shouldn't be used to make an assumption that all players should get through the learning curve in a few weeks. With most players, it will take more time.
Ewing could very well learn the offense and defense well enough to earn significant minutes by mid-November.
It's not like the offense and defense is going to take months and months for a player to grasp. the point is if he was talented enough he would be seeing more playing time.
Octeus also played a different position that was cinsidered a weak point...I wouldn't put the 5 as a weak point and I certainly wouldn't do that with the 4 as wel with Vince and possibly Wheeler playing that role (Taylor could potentially slide to the 4 with Haarms on the floor).
The major issue at hand is that Ewing didn't understand the defensive concepts at a level that allowed him to play more minutes. What likely would have happened in that situation is that some dippos would have then come to the board and clamoring that CMP was an idiot for offering a guy who can't play defense.

Give the guy a little time , remember Luther Clay , he looked lost when he went in, he transferred and was a really good player.

I agree with John Hoosier it don't take months to learn a defense and offense. The people played ahead of him are just better than him. Obviously if he was good enough to help us he would have played.
This is my argument with Matt Painter he takes too many projects you can't do that as a power 5 school and think you're going to get to a final four. Never will happen
Sir I have many of your posts and at 1st I kinda felt a little bad at what people had to say about you ,but now I must say sir you are incentives with your words. You hate painter so much how about this you get a head coaching job at a power 5 school and recruit your 5 star players and your 1 and done let's see how you do since you seem to think you can do better. 35 years you been a fan and you mad at painter for not giving you personally you a final 4 appearance hmmmmm interesting. I suggest you stop being a fan because Matt painter gonna continue to do the job he was hired to do and if the AD thought he wasn't doing his job he wud be gone. The team had a month to only prepare for the world games Ewing got there 2nd week in July and missed a whole month of learning what the others had started to learn ,so yes he is behind ,but does not mean he can't play. Now he is back with whole team he has time like the rest of them to catch up to speed and learn what he needs to learn. That kid can play and he will be a good piece to this puzzle painter has. Sir none of these kids are projects they all have something they can bring to this team and when season begins 2 months from now we all will get to see them play. Biolerman1973 you have opinions not facts sir what might end your hatred of painter go and start being a fan of another team because this team with projects so you say are not worthy of you being a fan. You simply not happy , frustrated and pissed because painter hasn't given YOU what you want. By the way check some other coaches resumes and see how they have done with projects Villanova , gonzaga Dayton and others who have done very well with 3star players. Than check the resumes of the 5star all American 1 and done players and their coaches let me no how they have done. Bottom line sir you might wanna move on from being a fan of purdue because this mediocre team you suggest with projects are not worthy of you being a fan to them. If you wanna meet painter and ask him why he do what he do I'll be at every home game wearing my son jersey #20 on it come introduce yourself I'll take you back and meet him than maybe he could put your mind at rest. Painter has done a good recruiting boys that love Purude and will do whatever it takes to help us win. I know #20 will work his butt off so he's ready when we need him. Same for Eden. When you get 13 guys like that the sky is the limit.
Well there's nothing I said in there that was not the truth. He does take too many projects. And what John Hoosier said was the truth whether you want to acknowledge the truth or not it's the truth
Since nothing I say makes any sense to any of you. Won't you elaborate and tell me why we haven't been to a final four. I really would like to know your guys's answer. Cuz if you want I can give you a list of project players that he's taken since he's been coaching Purdue hell we got three on this team right now.
And again if u can do better u get a job and coach and recruit than let's see how you do. I no just as much as you do sir and we can go back and forth and again if you do not like like what he has done Move on sir. Ease your mind find a team that you can root for and can get to a final 4 than hopefully you will be happy. I will stand on what I say as well as you will stand on what you say but in the end you a miserable man obviously mad at the world because painter haven't given you what you want. Projects or whatever you call them move on buddy find a team that will give you what you want.
