We have gone from scheduling a few years out 10-15 years ago, to scheduling what seems 5-7+ years out in football.
This obviously limits the ability to build a non-conference schedule around your team, as you often see with basketball schedules.
With COVID, there's been a necessity to make schedule adjustments or even schedule a game within a couple of weeks.
Which begs the question, is it really a necessity to schedule games years in advance. when teams are doing it weeks in advance?
Even if not, I'm not sure this would lead to a change. I haven't seen a lot of comments from coaches on this - do they like it?
