I think my hate for Maryland has just gone up to number 2 behind MSU. I rather be called a stupid sob than ugly. Just my opinion though. I really hated their big guy last year. Honestly its just because they are both really competitive good teams since Maryland joined the conference. No team is close to my hate for MSU and Izzo though.
i thought their fans were great. caused turnover on the shot clock. chants against opposition that rattled them (2 missed free throws). Disruptive, yes. Classless ... unless I missed something - no.
I would have to vote with the no big problem what they said. Student sections weren't the problem. My question is whether the cheerleaders initiated the razzing.

IH endured some more bad calls, has seen better days of play himself... but he got the last laugh.

As someone who was at the game, there were several signs in the student section making fun of Swanigan's weight. If someone's a bit pudgy when they are playing and what not, ok. But knowing his situation, I don't think that's really appropriate to make fun of.
I'm not really sure the point of yelling about someone's looks (plus I may not be an expert, but I don't think Isaac stands out as ugly).
My wife thinks he's a good looking guy. Mentions it just a little too often!!

Haas is probably banging two chicks at the same time at least once a week. I highly doubt he gives a shit about some fans calling him ugly. Frankly, that's not even the worst things said against Haas. Remember the Iu flyers encouraging them to make fun of his sister with special needs?
There Big guy last year, Diamond Stone, is going back and forth between the Clippers bench and the D league. He can't even get a minute played in the NBA. Just shows how stupid he was to leave MD as a stud Freshman (who did torch us...). Good lesson for Swanigan to consider. Become a lottery pick by staying longer in college... Every game he plays more in college, the better chance for lottery pick.
If all they had to make fun of is how much Biggie weighed in 8th grade and Haas' looks, who cares? My second grader could come up with better chants.
Yeah we just finished watching the game and my wife disagreed with their assessment.
I think it was an effect chant against him for sure. I doubt it's going to ruin his night but it did mess with him. He isn't usually the target. He got lucky with the travel but those fts were clutch.

"you are ugly" ? I have no problem with such a tame chant (especially tame considerig IU/Haas sister) The refs were the real jerks for Haas. He was def razzled, though. That walk was on him near the end. ah well. Bring on IU..Badger/Hoosier game should be interesting.

Well since their coach stated "we allowed them to win it at the free throw line without earning it", perhaps the fan base reflects a classless coach.

I was bored this morning and re-watched the 11 point run last night ...
we held MD without a FG in the last 7:30. They had only 2 FG in the last ~13:00.
We played pretty solid D and they ran some pretty bad O.

Relax, it's all part of the home court advantage. We lost to Jaws and Fat Albert, which makes us what then? The two guys the students taunted basically dominated then iced the game.

It's good you hate us, game means more now. I'm sure you enjoyed the game and outcome far more than playing Rutgers, PSU, Nebraska or some worthless team you don't care about.

I agree Terp. I don't have an issue with "You're ugly" type taunts. No big deal. I don't like the racist and other inappropriate stuff that has been a staple down south in Indiana.
I see UM as continuing to be a good basketball program so you will be moving up the chart on being a "Most hated rival". It's all fun. Hope you guys keep that Pez-Head Tremble style of play for as long as you can. When he started his head fake foul act, playing hero ball, that's when I thought we had a chance of winning. Turned out I was right.
