Brooks

Kentucky has been lurking now as well. Next yrs team if folds out could very deadly for North with possible additions of Austin and Sydney.

If he wants to go to MSU that's on him. Even if he develops as a post player at MSU he won't see the ball that much. Kentucky makes sense and I couldn't argue if he went there but Purdue over MSU for this type of player is a no-brainer.

I don't see him playing the post in college. He'll play the 3 or 4. North had another D1 player in Butz (sp?). He's going to Depaul. North would have won state, but they were brutal at shooting ft all year & that cost them the title.

Can a 4 not play the post?

I guess so, but I consider him a more athletic VE type (face the basket) 4 than a more traditional Biggie type 4.

If you're that big and you don't develop any sort of post up game you're wasting your size. Just because you are capable facing the basket doesn't mean that you can't do both. Vince started to go down to the post some more towards the end of the season and I thought it was a good option for us. Plus in that highlight video all I saw him do was dunk. Maybe he can shoot well too but if so then maybe he's more a JaJuan Johnson.

Can he shoot? Or just dunk lol...my goodness that kid can get up!

The end finally showed him shooting and hitting some threes. Yeah, dunks don't really impress me anymore because what kid of any size can't dunk? Heck, I'm 5'11" white guy and could dunk when I was in high school/college.

Ball handling looked okay, but a little awkward, showed some good body control finishing through contact and seems to have some range. So doesn't look to bad. Hard to tell to much by that video though.

Haha, if I could dunk like that, it's all I would want to do also. Lol

Yeah, but you are not going to be able to do that at the next level. You will be going up against bigger and better players who you can't just bully around and dunk at will, so that's why it's important to start working on some more post moves earlier.

A standard dunk isn't as impressive but it's not difficult to see where his head is on some of those dunks. He is getting way up and is an indicator of what kind of defensive potential he has as well. Obviously a jumper is important too but there is some real importance to the height a player jumps while doing so and the distance he does it from. He finished in traffic a few times also. His potential is sky high and he's only a sophomore in high school.

Most of that highlight video was just standard dunks though. That's what led to my comment, I get tired of these highlight videos which basically shows, yeah a tall guy can dunk, woohoo.

Brooks looks like a young man still growing into his body.

He is athletic with long arms and is still growing into his lower base (legs and feet).

His feet are huge (wonder what size 16?), which means he is still growing.....

Painter loves to get young men with skills that are still growing so they can play multiple positions...maybe he is a future 4 and 5 spot player like Taylor.

I have to disagree. Quite a few were showing just how high he was getting up. There is an enormous difference between the dunks he is doing in game compared to the ones let's say Biggie can do in game. I thought the videos made it clear that he dunks with complete ease and can do it in traffic as well which is important. Yea it would be nice to see more but the video does a good job of showing just how athletic he is, not that he is just some tall guy who can dunk.

His dad played at North Side in the early to mid '90's, followed by four years as a starter at Wright State ('95-'96 to '98-'99). Keion Brooks, Jr. appears to be a more explosive athlete than his father.

Expect Indiana to jump in here also since his dad played for Ed Schilling at Wright State. By no means am I saying he is going to IU but just expecting IU to be more active in his recruitment then they were under Crean. I still think MSU is in the drivers seat as Izzo and Fife have been here multiple times to watch Keion Jr play.
