Big Ten Ncaa Tournament

I'd say three based on how each team has played to date but someone is going to have to win these games between two bad teams so inevitably a 4th and 5th team might get a resume that gets them in. I will go with 4 just because I can't even pick one team right now that looks like it can emerge from the muck so it's hard to figure that two will.

I'm putting the number of tournament teams at o/u 4.5 or maybe 5. What is the smart money on?
I don't know who they are, but would expect at least 5 when it is all said and done. The Big has a lot of alumni and we are talking money...which is what the tourney is about in so many ways. Still, it is good to know that the NCCA cares about integrity and has North Carolina in the tourney with their academic accomplishments...just as an indicator that the NCAA is concerned about getting the best teams of student athletes in the tourney without any bias...other than a few......whatever a "few" means...

I’ll say 5: MSU, Purdue, Minny, Maryland, and a team that starts playing a lot better than they have so far. Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, and IU are among teams who could possibly pull it together and pull off an 11-7 in a weak Big Ten to grab that fifth spot.

My top 4 prediction:

MSU 17-1 #1 seed
Purdue 14-4 #4 seed
Minny 14-4 #5 seed
Maryland. 12-6 #9 seed

I know that 17-1 sounds ridiculous, but MSU might be the best team in the country right now and the Big Ten doesn’t offer a lot of resistance.

I was tempted to give Purdue 15-3, given the state of the Big Ten, but 14-4 is probably more realistic.

The top heavy prediction of having the top 3 teams average 15 wins is a reflection of how unimpressed I am with the rest of the conference after Maryland, this year.

I think that the Arizona and Louisville wins will ultimately look great on Purdue’s resume. The number 4 seed prediction also assumes a win over Butler.
