Another decommitt...

And it's only going to get worse! Why we can't keep this staff....total house cleaning is in order!
hopefully it doesn't get delayed too long , so new staff has time to recruit . This year is pretty much shot, unless a miracle happens , so lets start planning for next year.

It's why to cut bait early and get a new coach and staff announced as soon as the season ends. Writing is on the wall for the current commits....they have no idea who will be on staff next year and beyond.

Changing a coach during his second year also doesn't send a good message to recruits. If a new coach is hired, how long will he last? But now with the ability to change teams almost at will, any new recruit isn't forced to stay with a team if he doesn't like any changes made from what he was expecting.

Nothing succeeds like success, and failure usually just leads to more continuing failure.

I am sure Walters knows that unless the team is turned around , the rest of the season, he is gone. So if the next couple games, the team gets waxed, let him go and start working on next year.

Is there any difference in his buyout amount if it is done mid season or at the end of this season?

People laughed when I said this kid likely never makes it here. Lots of factors with NIL, poor coaching, etc. to think it true.

IMO the idea of “send a good message to recruits” is pretty much meaningless nowadays for the very reason you mention— players can now freely leave a team for any reason…

I hope to be wrong , but CRW now carries the Hazel-esque stench of incompetence— it’s critical that both he AND Bobo understand this, and the university is prepared to pivot effectively to a replacement if this stench isn’t overcome.

Absolutely stunning. A kid from California that committed out of nowhere on his first ever college visit, decommitted after the guy he committed to was fired. I just can’t believe it.

I think that the portal and NIL Era is going to require AD's to pivot and make changes sooner than waiting for he end of a third year compared to years gone by.
Especially if a team is well below .500 and there is noted decay the second season.
Obviously other factors play in to it as well.

You can make the decision to fire quick but the next batch of coaches isnt hireable until they are done with their own current seasons.

I think making the decision to move on as early as possible (when you know it’s DOA) is fine. Start the search early. But unless the guy you are hiring is unemployed it’s likely he’s not in the door til December.
