Am I the only person who checks daily......

My guess is that, since they're almost through the bye week, that he stays on until after the MSU game.
Go into the Bucket Game with an interim HC. Strange things sometimes happen with interim coaches, especially in rivalry games.
Of course, if there are hideous losses before then, that could change things.

If they wait until after the IU game, (assuming we do not win another game), then they start looking in December. Now they totally screw up the early signing period. New coach could bring over players if they see going to Purdue has upside, ala James Madison to I.U.

Looks like more than just the Football staff is clueless. AD and BOT as well.
I'm assuming that the AD and BOT are working furiously but quietly behind the scenes to get a great new HC. Maybe this time will be different.....for those of you old enough to remember, think of Lucy and Charlie Brown. Purdue football is Lucy hiding the ball for Charlie's kick. I am Charlie.

Technically we would SAVE a little money by firing him now instead of at the end of the season.
We are in this situation because Purdue is slow to react Brohm did everything but bitch slap the board and BoBo to let them know that he was leaving. Purdue apparently didn’t have a list of candidates then and I venture to say that they don’t have one now. I really was hoping that Walters would be successful. I think he is a good guy, but that is not enough. Firing the OC in the middle of the season puts a “DEAD MAN WALKING “ sign on Walters, unless a miracle happens. Yes, I agreed with firing Harrell. I think Purdue needs to let those out in the football world know that Purdue is in the market to change its trajectory and IS WILLING TO PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR IT.

That's an interesting guess. If it was going to happen before the next game, it definitely would have happened already.

Money isn’t the factor…it’s more about not having somebody who can step in and actually coach the team on the staff.
This. They’re all Walters’ people except maybe the offensive analyst from Ben Davis HS. I think we have time to wait until after the IU game since we likely will pursue new coaches on other staffs now. Only exception may be Kevin Sumlin or someone who does not have an official coaching job.

He’ll get a few more weeks for sure just because there are no other responsible adults on staff.

They’ll let him go with a few weeks left to signal we have an opening and then convos will hopefully start with candidates.

Sumlin is a co-offensive coordinator for Maryland.

I hope we have wheels secretly in motion but a lot of this falls on the BOT and AD.

They hired a coach with 0 HC experience and he hired a staff without play calling experience. They should have forced him to bring in more experienced assistants and even an associate head coach who could be his mentor for years 1&2 at a minimum. The fact we didn't, is crazy.

Anyways, at least we won't lose this weekend....

And I would 100% expect Maryland would allow him to interview for Purdue HC job early. I would also have expected sumljn would make that a condition of his hiring (permission to interview for HC job). Regardless there are enough feelers out there purdue could hire him immediately after their final game

David Blough for OC. Smart, personable, played for innovative offensive coaches in college and the NFL, and now coaches for one in DC. Perfect choice.
Maybe a bit too inexperienced thus far to make him OC. QB coach and perhaps co-OC. Yeah, I'd be pretty stoked about that.

No. I want all coordinators to have had prior experience calling plays. We are in a pickle right now because we don’t have experienced coaches.

Bring him in as a position coach or analyst
? Sure.

Agree. I’m sure he’s very bright and would be a good staff add but as a play caller….no thanks
