What a game he had playing for a National Championship . What he did was go 5 for 5 from three scored 22 points and won the tourney's MVP ! His team finished A perfect season at 33-0 . For those who get hung up on stars he is a three star graded at 78 . When Purdue signed him all reports where about his upside and future development . Make no mistake about it Painter knows talent when he see's it . Playing in his last high school game he single handedly kept his team in it with high flying dunks , blocking and altering shots , covering up open shooters and yes hitting 3's . He was everywhere doing everything for his team . Playing in a game where every player is a high major recruit or commit it was our commit who won the MVP . In a game they won by one point it is an easy statement to say without Aaron they lose . I tweeted the link to this game its on youtube if you have a chance watch it .

...and you forgot the winning culture that Matt is bringing in next year ;)

Pinter impresses the hell out of me with his recruiting eye. Its not just the kids we get it is the ones he misses on. many times these three stars that decided to go elsewhere turn out to be very good as well. Like CE last year and this Wheeler kid both under recruited but worthy of a spot on Purdue's team. Here is hoping for future development! can't possibly hit on them all but if you can find one each year that becomes a standout by his JR season we are going to be fine.

When I watch videos of him I'm fairly shocked he isn't a 4 star at this point. I'm extremely excited with the base of Eastern, Wheeler and CE. I think we are looking at some very good teams over the next 4 years even if/when Biggie goes pro.

I don't think we can fully appreciate what Matt Haams may bring with matchup issues for the other team as well...

I'm not a big recruiting guy. Can someone who is give some feedback on what they think keeps AW from being a higher rated recruit? I'm just curious if it's lack of exposure, hole in his game etc.... Not wanting an argument about number of stars, just honestly curious about his game.

From what I can tell by watching two of his games. (not a large sample size for sure) is that he plays on a team full of stars. He may be just over looked a bit. He is going to be big in PU offence. He is skinny but reminds me a lot of kids you see playing at KU, UK and Duke. Can stoke the three.

I think you will see Haarms used much the same way the UM big that burned us last game is used.

That's what I'm hoping for but still nervous he will be kept inside more when his frame/style suggests that's not the best way to use him to create mismatches.

Hayward is a prime example of a find that got away. He told Gordon when he was a HS junior he thought he would be in the NBA.

1. He isn't the highest rated player on his team.
2. He grew an extra 2-3 inches and added 10-20 lbs during the season
3. Ratings are a crapshoot
4. Overall body of work. A lot of the high rated kids are on the elite AAU teams and play a lot of national tournaments so everyone sees them.

How hard do you stalk him on social media?
Really hard or just kind of hard?

Thanks OB appreciate the report..... With a class that big you would hope for 1--2 starter quality guys right off.......let's hope they pan out.... We need one of them to be a monster difference maker next year... and in two years they will be a major factor. for how good Purdue is....... or is not.

oldboiler may be a stalker, but everyone needs to remember that GS Thomas consistently said he was in contact with the Zeller family and Tyler was "The Lock."
WTF are you talking about, Jared? I don't know any Zellers. Make some more shit up. I could make something up about you but, frankly, I've never seen you post before, you nothing.

You can't research using Twitter, Google or other modern means now available?

I concede you can pull up and spew out garbage that way — not that we can't do the same mis/ab/using journals, books, past studies and more traditional means of research.

I value the content OB52 gleans, however gotten, and shares here.

Nojel Eastern scored 29 points and depending on your source had either 19 or 17 rebounds . As he led his team into the finial eight of Illinois 4A tourney . Now at 28-3 combined the 2017's are 107-12 . Eastern who routinely switches hands especially at the free throw line shot only 7-15 from line . He was the target of the opposing fans as they took it to mean he was showing off . His team down nine he scored 11 of 13 points to take the lead for good at the end of the 3rd Quarter . This kid is a star player and the last player to show off he simply competes and uses every skill he has to win . I'm not good at links but you can read the story on Evanston Now the local news paper . He is the last of the 2017's still playing .

Not just next year. Remember Carsen lead his Atascocita HS team that was ranked #1 in the country most of the year to a nearly undefeated season, losing only in the final game of the Texas (largest schools) state tourney.

And Biggie and Cline each won 4A State titles in Indiana.

I didn't, but had moved on to next year. :)

OB: I take it he must struggle from the FT line routinely? Never heard of a good FT shooter switching hands. What kind of % does he shoot from the line?

Not OB, but everything I have read says he has some trouble at the line.

This is the first thing I've heard about him that actually concerns me a little bit. He can be good finishing and dribbling with both hands but you are not going to be a good to great shooter if you are constantly switching hands.

Just in case it take him a while to get back to you. I think he is going to say he switches hands in play around the rim off of drives..in that he uses both hands very effective. I believe his Fts are not switched..and have an understanding that it is his perimeter shooting that is his weakest link. Old Boiler 52 may correct this, but it appears he doesn't spend as much time on here. I'll add that he is a lefty...

How great is it to have a recruit who hits 5-5 from three in a national championship game against other P5 recruits...and it's his weakest link! :):):):)
