Thank you. I tried to jump to the times he was playing rather than watch the whole thing. Those that wish to do it...#1 with white headband for Brewster is our guy. One game can lead to many false opinions such as to whether he puts forth more energy than Eden Ewing because a coach can have a lot to say with that, but in the one game comparison Wheeler played much harder. Offensively, he liked the pick and pop and has a featherly soft touch...I mean really soft touch shooting the perimeter and hit a high percentage. He runs the court like a gazille and will bring speed to Purdue. He has some quick feet and can get a nice first step on his drives. He needs a few more pounds and strength. I don't know how well he can finish in the big if he can't dunk it since he had some difficulty posting smaller people and getting bump in the Big will be expected. It would help him and Purdue if he immediately started getting into a program to gain weight and strength.
On D...he isn't in college.
Still, he has decent lateral movement with his feet is conscious of help side, and needs some work closing out and not getting pinned down so low under the bucket on teh boards. It is obvious he has out jumped people to get by as he will have to embrace some physicality and take on a demeanor that you don't step aside and let people go where they want, but force them away from being a threat. Still, how many come to Purdue and play the D Purdue expects.
I like the kid, very fluid...energetic, a winner and certainly add some length and quickness to the current players. This kid can run the court. Now I wish the limited viewings I've seen of Eden Ewing I was as positive...and who knows...Eden may get to Purdue can provide energy as well to go with his athleticism. Eden is older and his hour glass is running out. Certainly Carsen, Eastern , Haams and Wheeler offer a lot more length and speed than the recent past...and if Eden brings that...Purdue should have a nice mix next year with more pieces...
