How much does Purdue need to keep him and how much would another team need to offer to get him to seriously consider it?
I’d say 2.5M minimum. But offers of 5M plus could make him listen but I think it also comes down to paint and the big 3 discussing what they need for next year and if paint and staff can get those guys. Or at least show them Purdue is willing to listen and try and go get em.
2.5 sounds right probably. I am not sure any school can offer 5M to one player and still fill out an entire roster that'll be competitive. Unless, it's like BYUs situation where Nike says hey, we will give you all this money but we need you to go to Duke for the brand.

SEC schools have tons of money that they can offer through NIL. Bama has been rumored at 5M. KU and UK as well.

People here just assume all that NIL money SEC teams have is going towards their basketball teams. sources say the vast majority of SEC teams will give the vast majority of their money to their football teams. OSU gives very little of their NIL money to any sport other than football. Purdue is actually one of the best paying school for basketball NIL. I didn’t say the highest. I said one of the best. You may be pleasantly surprised when you see actual financial information rather than the words of worried speculating fans.

UK does have the horse money. But I'm pretty sure there are some rule changes with NIL coming up where you can't just hand kids money to hand them money. I'm not sure Bama would have 5M for one player. Or Kansas. I could see Kentucky. Arkansas could with their Walmart money. Maybe Oregon. I don't know. 5M for one player is just wild when this past year I'm not sure anyone top like maybe 7M or something.

Guess Bama is lying to smith then, eh?

I have to laugh at this...not that you are wrong, but the horse money which is true. FWIW, my extended family through marriage was huge into the horses with Dan Lasater his partner. That guy (John) was the oldest brother of a childhood friend (Brent). Danny (ex Ponderosa owner) was the Bond daddy for Bill Clinton and arrested with Roger Clinton who Bill pardoned for cocaine trafficking. Somewhere around that time Florida hired Norm Sloan and I was told a few years before Florida beat Purdue (86/87) that Sloan was told the money was available...make Florida a winner. So yeah, horse money is available...

I have to believe Smith is happy at Purdue with the amount of NIL he's receiving.

I don't know about lying but maybe stretching the truth. Hell maybe they do have 5m to throw at one guy. Maybe they are just talking about NIL+Revenue share. No clue. I don't really see Smith fitting in at Alabama. At Duke... Yes.
Duke has the boozer twins. And while Cayden isn’t as good as his bro, he still plays the PG spot. No way they have someone come in and start over him and pay 30-35 min.

I don't see Scheyer as someone who would be scared of playing them together. Not that he even goes to Duke, but i definitely don't see him going to the SEC at all. But I also don't see any chance he leaves Purdue unless it's for the NBA.

Lottttta X accounts trying to create smoke about smith leaving and saying “if I hear what is true about smith….” But then not saying anything 😂

Like cool man. Probably hearing all top schools want him and willing to pay tons of money….bur that’s about it.

And now, IU has no players

I think Tucker is one from this team that likely has a promising future. I think Woody likely didn’t offer the needed structure discipline and guidance and never really adapted to his skill set. I could be totally off but my gut says he’s probably got some talent that will come out at the high major level. Good eval or totally off base?

The amount of money IU is going to have to spend to field a whole new basketball team AND maintain the football team is going to be a lot.

IU has the Coaches kid (very good) and Sisley, my guess is we’ll see a few WVA kids added soon.
