2025 Transfer Portal News/Recruiting

It's official - Madison has opted to return for her 5th year here. So Swanson's departure due to playing time makes sense.
That helps a lot. Not only bringing back a good player, but likely locking up McKenna staying as well. Its one of the few good things to come from Gearlds sisters fixation.

Sort of agree, for me maybe Swanson (had a down season) and maybe Poole although when she played she looked undersized and very raw on the court. I still think Madison might return, she’s better than Swanson is in my opinion. Hopefully, no one else leaves, would be nice to see the 4 left and 2 recruits stay on. Probably see 7-8 ladies brought in, nothing wrong with the back of the bench having final year transfers from lower levels.

Even with Madison back we likely need a starting point guard, a good three point shooting 2guard, at least a backup power forward to Puryear if she can develop into that position over the off season or a starter and backup at PF. Center and SF are the only positions we seem to have full locked in for the next team depth wise.

God yes, Purdue needs a ton. Madison returning helps a little, as you said it also keeps her sister here which in my opinion is a good thing.

I am all for the addition of Katie Davidson. She's 5'10 - has height - she's a career 34% 3 point shooter - shot 46.9% this past year in 18 games (injury shortened). Athletic enough. Will be a RS Sr. Below are some highlights of her going for 30 pts.

Not that she will end up here or return our calls, but Cotie McMahon is in the portal, likely looking for a team to take her to the final four her senior year.

A name that may be of significance (no inside info) is Phoenix Stotijn, a 5'9 rising sophomore guard out of the Netherlands. May be a connection to incoming guard Douwstra as both from the Netherlands and close in age.

She averaged 7.2 ppg and 2.2 apg as a rookie last year. Solid numbers playing in the SEC.

I like Davidson...50% FG%, 47% 3pt, 90% FT, 4.4 rpg. I would take a pass on Stotijn...32% FG%, 26% 3pt, 52% FT

I mean we are comparing stats of a true freshman in the toughest league in the country (SEC) to a 4 year player in the Horizon League. And also I'm sure it's not a one or the other situation. This team needs multiple guards to replenish the depth lost.

It looks like Purdue is returning all the other players I’m assuming? If true this leaves Both Laydens, Spider, McCarthy, Puryear, and the two Frosh making 7 players, guessing we see at least 6 transfers, probably 7 or 8.

As of now - it could change as the portal is still open - but it would be a surprise if anyone else enters - we have 4 returning players + Madison + 2 the incoming freshmen. I'm guessing 5 is a good number of additional players. 3 guards a forward and maybe another project post.

I think the 52% from the FT line is what bothers me most which leads me to believe she'll never be a good shooter. Of course, there are other aspects of her game that needs to be considered. Perhaps I thinking too high relative to the potential quality of transfers into the program.

Bet they’ll bring in at least 6 to go with a 13 player roster, I mean roster spots 14 and 15 could be filled by MAC level players looking to get a year in the Big Ten, probably helps practices.

Put this on The Depot earlier, per source, Purdue women’s basketball is set to host Northern Arizona guard Taylor Feldman for a visit this weekend. She was an All-Big Sky selection this season.

The 5-foot-8 combo guard averaged 16.4 points, 3.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 40% from the field and 36% from three.

Likely going to see a South Carolina/UCONN final, same old same old, one reason why the women’s game doesn’t do much for me. The men might be on the same path with this NIL/Portal stuff, this years tournament has been mostly boring, the Houston/Purdue game was one of the few entertaining games so far.

The only shot of parity coming to the women's game - which is was on the path to a few years back - is gone with NIL. Now the major schools not only have the history and coaches advantage - they also have the NIL advantage. Schools like USC and UCLA with their proximity to LA have really benefited from the NIL game. Schools like Purdue... not so much.

Purdue guard Rashunda Jones has entered the transfer portal, a source confirms to Boiler Upload.

Jones averaged 9.8 points, 3.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game this season. She is the sixth Boilermaker to enter the portal thus far.

I've not been impressed with USCar so far, they are barely beating middle of the pack Big Ten teams. I like USCal chances against UConn, even without Juju, and they beat them already this year in Conneticut, so that's on their side as well. I do agree UConn's previous dominance was bad for the game, I even quite watching during their dynasty. I think it's still UCLA's title to lose this year

Well there goes any hopes I had for this next year, guessing she follows the Reynolds family to W Michigan

Her game reminds me a lot of Ellis - very similar types of players.

IU's Yarden Garzon just entered the portal. Care to say that program is a hot mess right now for some reason.

According to sources on the iu board, Garzon got a threatening email from a men's team player, and nothing was done about it
The AAU contacts I know say she is considering Purdue! Key points: Plenty of playing time for her and we could use her lethal 3 point shooting. But unsure if CKG can acquire an elite player?

She is from Isreal - I wouldn't think the IU/Purdue rivalry will come too much into play. It wasn't even a "rivalry" during her time at IU as they whooped us the entire time.
She is not ignorant of the optics of her coming to Purdue either. She knows of the rivalry, she's seen first hand how poorly we are coached, for her to come here would only be for revenge on IU

Not really. I think she sees an opportunity to play, shoot lights out and given everyone is leaving, her maturity and experience would be welcomed.
Same at IU if she stayed, with a higher ceiling. Coming to Purdue would badly damage her draft stock for the WNBA draft. She addresses non of our current needs and would have us with 3 posts. 4 wnba and no pg or pf. It would be career suicide if she has wnba asperations. She's off the radar now, she needs more exposure, not less.

Believe she is returning to Israel after this season.

Carmin posted in his blog a few players he thinks we will have interest in. He listed:
  • Carter McCray, Wisconsin
  • Gina Kneepkens, Utah
  • Kailey Woolston, BYU
  • Kaylah Ivey, Boston
  • Yarden Garzon, Indiana

A couple of these players seem to be a major pipe dream considering where we are at as a program - but we will have PT to offer them.
