2022 Recruiting

Yeah I can see looking for a combo type guard after Ivey and Hunter leave. Newman will need to be the man at the #2 spot. Loyer will need a year to adapt and gain some strength. Colvin arrives the following year.
Would we make another pass at Paul McMillian? Not sure he is a combo but he is a good floor general type.

Huff just received a 247 prediction to Wisconsin. Illini offered him a few days ago.

Who was the iu player who used to trip people?
Wasn't there also an iu player who used to hit guys in the nuts all the time?

Devan Dumes… was 2 years ahead of me at Decatur Central High School. Same regional as Eric Gordon, Jeff Teague, Greg Oden and Mike Conley

Thought it was Derek Elston....

I think that was a different deal. Maybe Cody was hoping to get asked out on a date?
I think Crean told him to do it. Same year that that one guy who we all hated placed his face into an elbow trying to get a flagrant call at the end of the game.

Is that sort of like when the Cobra Kai guy in The Karate Kid gets told by his sensei to sweep the leg?

Crean: "grab the nuts"
iu player: "but coach, I can beat this guy!"
Crean: "I don't want him beat, I want his nut racked!"

Found it. It was Nix of MSU

I'm prejudiced for the local guys ... and this kid a gem of a good citizen too. Jonah Lucas from Harrison is having a great summer. I'd love to see him be a preferred walk-on if he's interested. We need that kid taht gives everything he's got every single practice in order to get a few minutes on every team

I have a though (OMFG NO!) ... with Edey and Furst showing all the great 19-year olds of the world how big men develop as Boilermakers ... are some European recruits taking notice?

That Yeo kid from Korea looked pretty good, 25.6 ppg almost 7 ppg better than the second best.
At 6'8", that dude was impressive and polished. I liked his step back jumper from the wing.
His handling was OK with a decent vision.

But, we already have plenty there and many coming in (Heide and Colvin).

Boiler Up!!

I don't recall seeing this article about Braden Smith posted.

Based on descriptions of his playing style, will Smith remind us of Carson Cummingham?

Maybe, but he reminds me of Aaron Craft, playing style. Agin not saying he is the next Craft.

If Braden plays tough and causes our opponents to hate playing him,
That is Chris Kramer/Aaron Craft's Second/Third Coming

Boiler Up!!
If he can play defense like Craft, he’ll have a huge impact. That’s a huge if, though. Craft was the only player in the Big Ten that I felt could really pressure Lewis Jackson and contain his dribble penetration.
