2022 Recruiting

The names will escape me and I'm too lazy to look them up, but here's a non-specific list. (these are individual players, not teams).
IL guards
Love the Rutgers guards
like the guard from Minny
Franklin from iu
MD had a guard I like

I like some of Purdue's guards. Love Ivey. He'll be a lottery pick next year. Newman's gonna be really good. I like Sasha and I think he's added another dimension to his game with his dribble.
None of these guards, except for Ayo, met all your criteria.

If you look at the national ranking, which I think is the better indicator, it shows Painter is incredibly consistent. To me, that is what you want in recruiting and allows you to just keep it rolling.
Are you saying Painter's recruiting in consistent on a national basis?

You're flattering yourself. Your posts aren't reading like that of being a "realist".

You've taken every opportunity to crap on this program, you've b*tched about our recruits, and you've made comments about Painter having "mediocre" recruiting in the next couple of years (which you refused to address).

Lately everything you've posted has seemly been with a sh*tty disposition. That ain't reality.

I agree that we should/could go to the FF. Even if they don't, it's no reason to constantly post negative crap seemingly in an effort to make everyone else around you miserable. If that's not your goal, a bit of self-reflection might be in order.
You're right. Maybe it's time for some introspection.....Maybe I should be happy with every player who commits to Purdue, regardless of anything else.

If Painter doesn't land Washington or a stud guard to go with the Loyer, Smith class, I have not problem considering it mediocre. I know you and the stroke club will consider it a "Great" recruiting class (which is fine. You can call it great all you want despite where it ends up being ranked).

I was in love with this girl....
What was her name?
I don't remember
What did she look like?
She had hair, eyes, maybe a nose....
Are you sure it was love?
Totally...

Lol reminds me of Anchorman.

What was her name?
I can’t remember.
That’s not a good start but keeping going.
We made out in a Kmart for hours.

i've never called it anything, let alone "great".

And, my point remains, which you unartfully dodged.

There’s plenty of posters who give the moniker of “great” to a bunch of our recruits and players. Greatness comes cheaply these days.

What you don't seem to understand is that the transfer market will essentially make high school recruiting somewhat irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, we need to recruit good high school players. But why stress over whether one class is "mediocre" in your words, when a couple of transfers at a later date could change everything.

Interesting you say that as I was thinking with the transfer rules a team with a solid roster can afford to take some chances on high school recruits. If they don't work out, they'll just transfer out and we can bring in transfers to replace them. Seems silly to stress about it.

Hmm. Like Baylor's success, which you claim was predictable because it was being built over the past seasons? None of Baylor's past 5 recruiting classes were top 25 in the nation. The highest was #31 and 2 of the past 4 classes did not even make the list of the top 50. How is that even possible?
Baylor had a ton of transfers that weren't contributing to the recruiting rankings. Same isn't true for Purdue.

If Baylor had added those players in their recruiting classes would it have moved them to Top 25, which was the stated criteria for success? I don't think so.

18 Sure would have they added Macio Teague and Mitchel to a the 36th ranked class.
??? Neither of those guys were in that recruiting class that was ranked #36. They didn't even graduate in the same year and were already at their school when that class was signed.

BTW, MaCio Teague wasn't even ranked. If you replace one of Baylor's ranked recruits with him, the class ranking would have dropped.

I totally agree as it would be great to be able to scout a player playing against P5 level competition and have a pretty good idea of what you're getting if he transferred to your program.
I think the water's going to get really muddy in terms of who and how coaches are able to communicate with players who might be considering entering the portal but haven't. I assume that's against the rules?

Not against the rules for a guy like Matta to text an AAU or HS coach that he knows to see if Johnny is happy at State U...

That's what I mean. I'm sure coaches are using alternative ways to communicate with players to find out if they're considering a transfer, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of players communicate about the same thing.

I hope we have a “college player personnel” guy who is scouting full time.

I still think this year's number of transfers is an aberration. The free Covid year gives a lot of guys an extra year they wouldn't have otherwise had. This is the first year of transfers with instant eligibility so more jumped than would likely be normal. Remember at this time instant eligibility is only a once in a career so you better be sure the move you make is one you want to live with.

Important enough for you to respond, and to avoid the clear question.

It's stated, above.

If you refuse to answer, just say so.
I don't really care that much to search for it. So, if you want me to answer, ask it again.
