Why the absolute negativity? WE all get it, the program is in a tough place right now and that reason is hashed out daily on this board.
My point is this.....recruits read this board. They do. You're putting bad things out there as a fan of the program before the class is even really being assembled. If they did want to come here.....why would they want to now come to a program where the only thing the fans will do is shit on them and the program....before they are even a part of it?
I'm not saying to blindly support the program no matter what happens....but to put this out there....there's just no reason to do so at this point.
You're only hurting a program further that needs all the help it can get right now.

We aren't the ones who poisoned the well; this incompetent, p.o.s. athletic department and BoT ARE the ones that poisoned the well (long before Hazell arrived, I may add) and until they are GONE, you better believe that we will voice our displeasure, and more of us need to do so!!

I think your point would be more valid if the OP was bad-mouthing individual players and making derogatory statements. That would be more of a character reflection of the fan base. But for his post above, I think you could make a pretty good argument that his thoughts/views show legitimate concern and that fans are passionate in wanting to see things get back on track. This may in fact be a much more positive reflection than you think it is. I mean, his point is entirely valid (although probably a touch too soon to call the season "horrific"

You hit my point on the head. It's Februaury. It's 364 days until the next signing day. Why shit on the class before its even been formed?
Since there are 0 commits....anything said in his rant is speculative. Shoot, we may figure this thing out this year, win a few games and get the program turned around. We just don't know how its going to go until its done....so why be super negative before?
Why start a new thread to say the same thing thats been said repeatedly up and down this board for the past 2-3 years? There's just no reason. We are recruiting poorly because we are playing poorly. We start winning, we will recruit better.....no shit.
So why not let this coach see out his term and not shit all over his efforts....especially before he's even gotten to put the effort in!
We identified some pretty good kids last recruiting cycle as evidenced by where they landed. If we win 3-4 more games last year things are looking up. This thing is not lost beyond repair (just maybe lost beyond this coaches repair) but this sad sack, woe is me, burn down the world posting is getting super old. Its just one lonely old man whining and crying after another.
Yeah, the worse we have gotten the more people have left the board....but also some people have left because they don't want to put up or read the whiny bullshit either. Whine about the class afterwards....not before its time to reasonably have people start forming the class1
Pboiler18, I admire your positive approach and 'doing your part' for the image of the program, but you are squirting a water gun at a forest fire telling a few fans on a message board not to voice their concerns. Also, I didn't read the OP as crapping on the recruits. I read it as an indictment on Burke and the administration.

I am legitimately asking, given the 3 assumptions I posited, how will Haze recruit a class that is not ranked at the bottom of the B1G? I would like to see what that looks like.
Maybe bring all the recruits in on bye weekends so they don't see the 19,000 strong in RA?

If we are bad again, we will recruit poorly again. It's that simple. YOur outrage is hilarious....mostly because A. it's repeated EVERY DAY on here and it's incredibly old and stale and B. You're mad about something that hasn't happened yet.
I think this team will be slightly better just because Shoop is gone. Id say 2 wins better than last year. Now, if the D is better...I think we could squeak out a bowl game. Maybe. If not, im not going to cry about it because I know the program is in a bad place and the admin doesn't care.

And if you think those are "hypotheticals", um, OK. You're right. Hazell will get an 8 year extension, we will sell out every game, and probably be ranked in the top 25.

I think you are all missing 18's biggest point. That being it's the same shit on this board day in and day out. Absolutely no reason to start a thread stating the same things that are said in every single other thread. His recruiting isn't going to be better, we suck as a program right now, it's going to be the same get whoever you can to come here type thing. I'm not saying don't be pissed about where we are because I'm incredibly pissed about it. I say we get one thread and call it "Giant Bitchfest" where all of you can go to make yourselves feel better on a daily basis. It's not that you're wrong it's that you are beating the same dead horse in ever single thread/post, and it gets annoying.

And you don't think those 3 things are going to happen? Sindelar turning into the next Aaron Rodgers is pretty much the only way it doesn't.
And blaming Shoop for Tressel Ball is laughable. He did what Hazell wanted for 3 years, and Malone will do the same.
He's not whining. He's posing a question based in facts. While it is true that recruits read message boards if the next season continues to be what we now expect from a DH team there will be nothing posted here that any recruit that is intellectually qualified to attend Purdue won't have already figured out on their own .
Most recruits are just happy to get a chance to play P5. No matter how bad the team is.
I think worst case, this operation manages to win 4/5 games. That keeps them around with a 6 win ceiling what I feel is all they are capable of vs bringing in competence that could win 8/9.
If they do go maybe the next guy will come in December vs. prepping for the GoDaddy Bowl and not assemble a great class but bring in 4-5 legit players to build on. The hope will be for 2018 to be a top 8 class in the Big 14.
The best decisions that have been made for this program may have come too late with the hiring of the new DC,QBC and moving Malone to OC...but as some know, good coaching and teaching make potential ugly losses competitive and sure wins.........wins.
For those of us that have played the game and watched a lot of football we all know that The Haze Era has lacked competitive losses and solid wins.
If "Purple Haze" can stay out of the way of the fresh minds that have been moved into place this winter, we can win 2-3 more games this year. Be Positive!!!!!
That's what i thought but wasnt sure, didn't feel like looking it up. It's also a testament to just how awful hazell is. Hope was paid less then a million per year! No reason we should be bottom od the barrel uear after year.

Just a heads up - IU has 4 commits, including a 4 star who is in the Rivals 250. We still have none.
Hopefully the new AD and Morgan acting as Geppetto will figure it out.
If a recruit doesn't already know this I doubt he could meet the entrance requirements to be accepted to Purdue.

Go back and look his comments about the Wisconsin offensive game plan. That was all Hazell.
We are in a rough spot. Complaining doesn't help. Complaining about complaining doesn't help. This wound is just going to have to bleed out, unfortunately, because that's the way the powers that be see it. Things will get better.
Thats how WE see it. They clearly see that success is just a short ways away and Hazell only needs more time to turn it around.

And I do think that he gave Shoop some general direction over the communication system during games, though I obviously cannot prove that.
My point is, I do not think you will see much change or improvement this season with Malone as offensive Coordinator, but I hope I'm wrong .
Just gotta have an attitude change on the team, Purdue has some good players, damn Purdue is better than what they have shown the last 3 years
I will never forget that Wisconsin game.And we will hopefully never see another Purdue game where they only throw six passes through the first three quarters.How dumb can you get?
