Purdue Wide Receivers

This article sums up everything I said this summer about our wide receiver room and why our 2024 room is an improvement from the 2023 room.

2024 Predicted Depth Chart (When Everyone is Healthy)
Boundary - C.J. Smith - 6’3”, 195

Field - Jahmal Edrine - 6’3”, 215

Slot - Jayden Dixon-Veal - 6’0”, 190 or Kam Brown - 6’1”, 185 or Andrew Sowinski - 6’0”, 205

2023 Season Opening Depth Chart
Boundary - Deion Burks - 5’11, 195

Field - Abdur-Rahmaan Yasseen - 6’2”, 200

Slot - TJ Sheffield - 5’11, 190

Not only is the 2024 WR room bigger, they are faster.

Purdue men's basketball Jacobsen surgery update

Small little health update on Daniel Jacobsen. Jacobsen had successful surgery yesterday which included inserting a metal rod in his leg. Part of the delay in X-ray and injury update in the beginning was because they weren’t sure if the rod was necessary or not. It’s similar to the injury Raleigh Burgess had in high school. Burgess obviously made a full recovery and the same is expected of Jacobsen.

For those who think this race was decided by “racist misogynists”

Do you think Trump would have won this election if grocery prices were 20% lower than 2019 and if gas prices were $2?

If so, why?

If not, why?

IMo, this election was about the economy (James Carville was right, ya know). But please keep on believin’ it’s the racist misogynistic boogeymen in the small towns across America. If you do that, you’ll lose again in 2026 and 2028

Susie Wiles as Chief of Staff

Great pick for those of us who want some guardrails on Trump. She and LaCivita ran a great campaign. She was able to keep trump focused better than anyone else has in his political career. She will have tremendous influence on his appointments and cabinet selections. Less chance of unqualified ass kissers getting in critical positions. And she knows what she's getting into having worked closely with trump during the campaign unlike his COSs in his previous admin. Hope she can stay awhile.

OT: Duke and Kentucky game

Got to see a little of Gillis in the loss. Glad he's getting some PT. Was listening to the talking heads as they gave the background on the players and kept hearing "transferred from". Doing a quick look at the Kentucky roster and not counting scrubs, they have 2 freshman recruits, 1 recruited player that's been there three years and the rest of the roster are transfers over 20 years old (with most being 21 and 22). Big change around from Caliparis "NBA prep machine" strategy, I think coaches see the future of championships in older players with more experience (wow! What a throwback.) Now, whether or not a coach can get those guys to "gel" and play to strengths on the floor may make the difference in a championship season and a losing one. The other factor will be "glue" guys, although you are getting some of that in transferred seniors and grad students. Painters long term advantage may be in keeping guys together for 4 years and having a great team with good players.

Indinia is 6-0 and . . .

They have a 6 page thread on Purdue firing Harrell. Even with a decent start to the season, they still can’t help being a little brother. Now they’re bitching about whether staying at their tailgate and eating tasteless breakfast burritos and drinking Coors Light is still better than going into the stadium and watching the game. Sounds like Nebraska is bring 20,000 Husker fans to Blobington, just like OSU always does. At least they’ll be wearing the same colors, so the aerial photo is I’ll look good. Funny Little Bro Loosiers😂

Personnel

3 games in, I am curious of others thoughts, but after losing Jacobson, I don't think there should be a lot of debate in terms of who our top 7 players are (my ranking is below).

1 - Smith
2 - Loyer
3 - TKR
4-7 Harris, Cox, Colvin, Heide,
8-10 Berg, Furst, Burgess

It's very strange to not see a 5 in our top 7 players this year, but I think our best shot of winning 20 + games and contending for the BIG10 will be to play our top 7 players as many minutes as possible throwing position out the window. Our 8-10 are good situational options but not a group you can build team strategy around. My prediction is that Painter is going to be forced sooner or later to play a 3 guard 2 forward or even a 4 guard lineup as our baseline.

This won't be an easy road, so if Painter can keep this team ranked and in contention for the BIG10, I would consider it right up there with any of his best coaching efforts since he has been here.
