Home from Iowa City

Yeah, already. It helps that I live 2 minutes from I-88. It's almost a straight shot for me, less than 3 hours. Got home for the last minute of the MSU-UCLA game.

Interesting game. You had to figure TKR was going to eat all night. I was trying to bet on him for 15+ but it seems you can't bet college player props in Iowa. News to me. Might have been because it was specifically against Iowa, as we had that rule in Illinois for a couple of years. Don't know.

I thought the pound-it-into-TKR-every-play went a little too far though. The passing lanes just weren't there in the first half. Bad spacing. Much better in the 2nd. How about TKR's assists! Passed out of the double-team so well. One to Furst, one to Braden, one to Cox, not sure about the 4th one.

What can you say about Braden Smith that hasn't been said already. Put this team on his back once again, especially with the 2 fouls on TKR. I did think his 2nd foul was weak, and his 3rd was even more weak although the game was basically decided. Dix and Sandfort were so good. I found it hard to believe that Dix only made 3 3s. Felt like 6 but maybe they were all in the 2nd half.

The crowd sucked for the most part. It was so empty that you could hear each and every complaint from the fans about the refs during some stretches. They did pick it up on defensive possessions when they got it back to 2 possessions with 5 minutes to go. I did have a couple people chat with me nicely about how they like Purdue's program.

Oh, and they do still have a smoking hot blonde doing timeout announcements and games for the students on the floor. Last year she was wearing leather pants though. Maybe she was trying to impress Zach.
did you run into any weather issues ?

DOGE has already cancelled over $1 BILLION in government DEI contracts.

USAID is just one example of American soft power. This admin has never heard of it.
I have lived in a country that was a USAID recipient. I was stationed at Clark Air Base, Philippines, for three years. Ferdinand Marcos and his cronies became multi-millionaires and the rest of the nation lived in grinding poverty.

Smith vs Iowa

Smith nailing that 3 before the half, was just big balls. No way he lets the team lose that game from there. Simply a joy to watch. We have been so fortunate to watch these most recent Purdue teams. Now, another wild Mackey crowd is needed Friday night.
will be nice to show an ex PAC12 team what a home court crowd should sound like. I've been kidding my brother ( Purdue Alum) who had 2 of his kids go to USC who's he rooting for? He said def Purdue

Colvin and Heide 3P splits

One thing that I noticed about Heide yesterday is that the 3 pointer that he hit was the one where he had to shoot and had no time to think. It was actually the hardest of his attempts. Sometimes the most coach-able team first guys struggle the most with second guessing themselves which he had no time to do on that play.

On the other hand, he really is playing an important overall role for this team and is doing a lot of the dirty work, which is what he needs to do as he works through this.

It appears over this tough stretch that most of his deep shots have the right distance but have been wide.....more to the right.......wonder if it's either something with his alignment or just not being squared up - think he might get it straightened out......definitely agree on doing some dirty work on defense on the wing, which allows Smith to be a little more aggressive, and CH is helping out on the glass.

He and Myles Colvin just have to stick with it and stick with it - opportunities will be there with some huge games coming up.

Purdue at Iowa: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Glad we eeked out a road win...Iowa made that more interesting that we all would have hoped.

The offense is still too dependent on Smith and TKR. I'm afraid that our offense will get too linear as we near March...I don't love our other guys, who could fill it up in high school, just quickly think to get it back to Smith over shooting an open shot etc.

Loyer made some bad plays down the stretch before Painter pulled him...he can be so good, but such a doofus at times.
Loyer is fine as the third wheel most of the time, Purdue needs someone else to step up, Harris and Cox look better, Furst played good last night, once again Colvin and Heide offensively didn’t add much.

for how good of a shooting team they are, they are a pretty bad FT shooting team

Shocker - Braden Smith named Cousy Finalist

I believe Brandon will have some great opportunities to prove his skills against some very good teams. And that is what it will take to win the award.

As I look at the Big 10, There are some teams like UW, Maryland, Illinois, OSU, Nebraska that are starting to get some national attention. And then you add teams like Oregon and MSU with teams like Iowa and IU lurking in the shadows. unlike many others, Purdue and Brandon will have a lot of opportunities ahead to prove they are worthy.

Just take care of business and win as a team and the individual awards will follow. I’d rather have Purdue win as a team than have players being selfish going after individual awards.
Braden isn’t selfish and if you actually are a Purdue fan, you’d already know that after his freshman year. He’d rather have 15 assists and 0 points as long as it meant they win. He stops scoring and looks to pass more to get others involved ESPECIALLY when Purdue is in control (from an interview Paint had).

Last night work for ya? His stat line was amazing and with Kam jones in foul trouble and not putting up much stats in a loss at St John’s, this shows this award is Braden’s to lose.

I believe the issues are that there is little overview in the spending and what they can see in spending as I've shown before tax payers don't want, don't want with the same magnitude of spending and moving some perhaps to the states. The overall belief is that the "soft power" as used today in many circumstances is not effective in advancing the USA interest

Of course they call Galloway for the extended elbow push off the first time he did it...

Wouldn’t be surprised if it came up in the game footage the refs previewed before the game. One of them had to notice it and decided to stop it early so if they game was close, they were letting an offensive foul go.
Galloway has done that since a freshmen. No time to study how well they did even before they travelled across the country. The issue is all about how they were rated...their big government...

POS President Chump blames DEI for plane crash

For fukks sake!!! They didn't have a demand for black slaves. They had a demand for slaves. The Africans supplied them with what they wanted/needed.
He obviously has been immersed in some connections we don't understand or could leap to that thought over teh chasm that has an infinite width. Trying to explain how slavery came about and still does or trying to show that it has went on for thousands of years and is currently going on with all races involved is met with a "yeah, but..."

I have no idea what he wants relative to slavery. We all have said it was wrong even if the mores' at the time possibly didn't.

Smith vs Iowa

The shot Smith hit before halftime set up the 2nd half burst. And his performance should give him a gap in conference POY race.

Trump May End USAID

The corporate media like fox, cnn, pmsnbc, will talk about USAID spending of money on foreign countries that need natural disaster help and use Dem/GOP talking points because thats what they do.
The truth is that 'USAID' is a CIA (deep state) front-group. On the outside, its a so-called "aid organization". Its REAL purpose is to work behind the scenes to overthrow democratically elected governments all over the world, staging/sponsoring coups, installing puppet dictators, regime-change imperialism. Trump is making very dangerous CIA enemies. The last time a US Pres went after the CIA was Kennedy.
BTW, there is another CIA front group that pretty much does the same thing, its called Organization of American States (OAS). I predict that to be a future target.

I've never heard of soft power either. That's a new one.
In reality USAID was a huge waste of taxpayers money. Did you read the list of some of the ridiculous things it was funding with your tax dollars.
The truth is, if this were a democrat idea to save money, you'd love it. But, since it's a Trump/Republican idea, you hate it.

Why didn’t the Europeans enslave European criminals? Much closer than Africa, don’t you think. Cheaper as they would not have to buy them. Then ship them over to the US.
That's a legitimate question. I don't know how the criminal justice system in Europe operated in the 16-18th centuries. My guess was there probably wasn't enough supply to meet demand, Also, Africans had already set up a system of enslaving the defeated tribes that they captured, so there was already somewhat of a system in place, it then just become an economic exchange.

It's been a common thing in recent close games. You saw it plenty in the IU game. I thought Fletch had a tough matchup against Sandfort, and it probably affected him in the first half. In the 2nd it seemed like he wasn't guarding him as much. That might have been Iowa's rotations too because they played the brother more minutes.
I missed that during the IU game. Thought this was the first time.
