Something nobody else has said, Creighton scouted Purdue just as little as we scouted them. Creighton prepared just as much as Purdue did.

Creighton is a good team. Last year, Marquette was a good early test.

In the past, Painter played preseason games with the focus on winning rather than evaluating and developing younger talent. I believe what you saw today will be a close reflection of what to expect in the real season.

Players earn playing time in practice. It appears certain players will have to step up their play in practice if they want to earn more actual game playing time.

It was said that Harris played great defense in high school. It appears the national analysts were accurate in their assessment. It has also been said by many that the key to playing time on a Painter team is the willingness and ability to play defense. Adding those two together, I would speculate Harris will be the player to replace Jones. At this time, Purdue doesn’t really need Harris for his offense. That will pick up down the road.

Cox kind of surprised me. I’ve read a lot of good things on this forum about him. Is it possible he could become our 3rd or 4th best guard?

My reasoning. Your initial evaluation is he would be the best after bulking up. He has the highest ceiling. How much can we expect him to improve over the course of this year? Or will we have to wait until next year before he begins to dominate?

Looking back, both Haas and Edey started showing their dominance in the paint their second year as they grew older and added some muscle. Can Jacobson bulk up by tournament time? Or will he need a little bit longer?

I ask because he skipped a year in high school to arrive early. Your comment makes it appear he’s a little behind physically, but with time could become the next in a long line of productive Purdue centers.

I can agree Berg will probably be getting the first look as we start the season. But I feel his overall future ceiling is probably the lowest.

She took the interviews and had the opportunity to give the voters something to vote for. The result was essentially more of the same. She whiffed a couple times when asked to talk about what she would have done differently. It's not an easy question for a VP but a good politician should be able to handle it. She didn't.
