Crickets: ESPN is Lame Rant!

The worst is looking at CBB scores on the website. In some idiot's twisted effort to show equality or something, they have decided to mix the mens and womens scores together. Put the women's scores at the top of the page and the mens at the bottom for all I care, but for god's sake keep them separate. So annoying.

B1G showing out

Good showing for the B1G yesterday as Purdue takes down #2 Alabama and Wisconsin puts up over 100 against #9 Arizona.

Should be another fun season in conference as it appears to be a wide open year in the league.

Seems the procrastinators knew a little something when they picked Purdue to win the league. It should be interesting to see who is right there with us.

B1G showing out

Queen is the real deal and Gillespie is a very good guard.

Marquette will also be tough on Tuesday. Cam Jones is a helluva guard and there are also other good players around him. What a way for this team to be tested in their first road game of the season 😂
The good think about Marquette is they appear softer than us inside. And after last night we didn't look as soft.

Jones might be best guard we see all year?

Win or lose the team will get better. So glad Painter schedules tough.

B1G showing out

We also play them in Birmingham (with our return game at the United Center next year), so it’ll pretty much be their home game to rebound … not expecting a win, lol.
That is a tough draw. Purdue was lucky to get them in Mackey this year and the travel to Alabama next year when all their Covid Srs years are gone.

B1G showing out

I almost forgot but Maryland looked pretty good too in a close loss to #15 Marquette.

Should be a good game Tuesday.

#2 Alabama at #13 Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Yes. Heide rebounding well made it work. I hope he keeps that up. This team is better with him out there, and the 4 is his path to minutes.

As much as Cox offense gets attention, his defense against Sears to close the game was maybe just as impressive for a true Freshman? He didn't back down at all from the moment.

On that note it will be fun to see how Harris/Cox/Colvin improve defensively. It's early and they already seem ahead of the curve a bit.

Love, love, love Colvin not getting any shots but still impacting the game and bringing energy on D.

I'm rambling, but also noticesd Harris being fired up and one of first to congratulate Cox after his offensive outburst. These guys are all about winning and not sulking about who is getting minutes.
Well said.

Braden was going nuts for CJ while he was on the bench and the barrage of 3s started to rain down in less than a min from CJ

Nice win for Wisconsin. It's nice to see one of the teams not shelling out NIL left and right having some success early.

Illinois plays Alabama next week. I'm glad we were able to play them first. Wouldn't want to see a team with as much talent as 'Bama coming off an L. Good luck Illini😂

I like Heidi at the 4 as well. His leaping ability/athleticism allows him to play bigger than his size. I noticed the 8 rebounds as well on the stat sheet. He was tied with Kaufman-Renn for team high. He needs to be on the floor…now that Jacobsen is out for the season.

I thought Furst played well last night as well.
Yes, Furst was great. His experience showed and would love to see him carve out a nice role this year.

I think TKR/Heide/Furst/Burgess can carve out nice rotation at 4 and 5.

Use Berg when you need a big body to bang or take up some space. Keep playimg him some so he can improve, but points per possession had a clear drop with him in compared to the others. I think last night showed where the production will come from against high level teams.

Reality comes to town Alabama

I hope people now can see (the doubters) that Purdue is still really, really good! Some are just so impatient! That was a senior led team too for the most part. BE PROUD OF WHERE OUR GUYS ARE!
It certainly was a senior laden team. I am glad it will be the last time, unless in March, that we see the former Rutgers player #11.
I will take CMP's recruiting style over the portal built teams.

#2 Alabama at #13 Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Yes. Cox, Harris, and Colvin all have really bright futures and all seem to be great teammates as well as talented players.
relative to that...last night I started to respond to @*4purdue* on a post relative to Burgess and never found it quick enough before catching a few minutes of the game. When the 1974 team was recognized months ago, a guard on that team (drawing a blank...maybe Shields?) living in Cincy asked Burgess why he chose Purdue. Burgess said he knew he would spend a lot of time with the players on the team and would have friends for life and knew this was a good group of guys that would make good friends for life. Culture a chosen desire!!!!

PJ and the offense

Super impressed. We lose Edey and Kenpom has us #3 in offense. We have been scoring in droves against good teams. It seems like PJ is expected to takeover some day but I hope he doesn’t leave and come back like paint did and we can throw him enough money to stay the whole time.
That offense with much credit given to PJ AND Matt, is blessed to have Braden doing what he does. Remove Braden and the offense against a good team is not nearly as good. We are witnessing a player at the 1 unlike any in my memory of Purdue basketball and Purdue has had some good ones. Braden is special and LIVED in the gym last summer. I think we can say the same about Fletcher as well.

The whole team contributed last night and there were many important plays by a variety of players, but in the heat of the moment Braden getting on the floor towards the corner opposite of Alabama (SW corner) to retrieve a loose ball, get it back and then smartly draw a foul on a defender as he was dribbling the ball across half court was at a crucial time and play. Braden wills the team to a higher level with his fire and play to do whatever he can to lead Purdue to a win. That will, that fire...that competitive spirit has no number of measure to rate the effect, but controlling the game is huge. BTW, Braden's little brother apparently has the same fire as he may have a broken nose from diving on the floor and a player diving on him Thursday
