Tuskegee Airmen will no longer be taught to Air Force recruits

Dude, Q is in la la land. Or smokin too min o that whacky tobacky. He expect me u me to get rid trillions of dollars in fighter jets and nuclear subs do some jive drones.
I fully agree that one of us is wacked out. I was an active duty US Army officer for 28 years and retired at the rank of Colonel (O-6). The only uniform you ever wore was Cub Scouts or maybe high school band while the studs were playing football. I said nothing whatever about "getting rid" of fighter jets or anything else. We need to stop procuring aircraft carriers, tanks and fighter jets because drone/missile technology has made all of them obsolete. We don't get rid of them, we just don't buy any more. We should focus DOD on the drone and missile development that will win the next war. Ditto the much ridiculed "Star Wars."

iu week. First off.......

When “better than Archie Miller” is the brag it’s not going well.

As the OP said, there are so many reasons he won’t be Indiana’s coach as soon as this season is over. He’s lousy and he’s a dead man-coach walking. Kind of like football for both IU and Purdue; try and try again until hopefully they finally make a wise decision and get it right. Like Painter (or likely Cignetti), a good decision when finally made can have lasting excellent impact.
Cignetti won’t be at IU for long if he keeps winning at a relatively high level.

B1G Tourney tickets

Not that I'm planning to go, but I'm sure a lot of you got the email this week regarding BTT tickets. It came with the following note/warning:

Important Updates for 2025

With the expansion of the Big Ten to 18 schools, ticket allotments for each institution have been significantly reduced to accommodate all programs. This means fewer seats than ever are available in the official Purdue block. To manage this transition, ticket requests will be capped at two (2) tickets per account.

Ok, fine, makes sense. But there are only 15 teams that make it. Debate if you want about that whole idea, but my next question is, do the 3 teams that don't make it get an allotment? They shouldn't, other than maybe a box for VIPs. So really, there should only be 1 additional block of seats for the schools. Right?

The other thing about it, there's going to be more empty seats for the early rounds than we've even seen before.

Having thrown his team under the bus, it's only fair that Cronin's allotment would be conditional on having to take Greyhound to get there and back.

iu week. First off.......

think May would have been a good fit for you guys

Is it possible that Woodie gets resounding cheers this Friday night? 😮
Not dumping him for May when IU had the chance was a monumental mistake. There are plenty of rising coaches that could be a great fit every year, but May was the perfect fit on multiple levels.

And yes; when Woody and IU get beat this Friday there will likely be some killer cheers for Woody in Mackey. If that doesn’t say it all I’m not sure what would. He’s not quite Walters bad, but given program expectations maybe he’s worse. Friday won’t hasten his exit however, because he’s already a complete goner.

iu week. First off.......

Haha hilarious that in two of the wins…it took a career game from a freshman, which he promptly disappeared into the sun after that and even in the nba and another win had the local kid fro Lafayette come off the bench after shooting 28% all year from 3 and hit some big shots while Purdue didn’t play its best.

The one game that he did coach well was TJDs senior year at IU. I’ll give him that. But the other two, meh.

Mt. Rushmore vs. the gravel pit

Fox presented a revised Mt. Rushmore for Purdue hoops during the amaizing mauling of Michigan, a graphic of Johnny Wooden, Rick Mount and Glenn Robinson joined by Zach Edey, who replaced the previous Final Four star and the No. 1 pick in the 1980 NBA Draft, Joe Barry Carroll.

Methinks all five should be set in stone, only fitting for basketball. A starting lineup. And Purdue has more great players to stand for the 50 flagpoles leading to that consensus All-American scene, all worthy without a Stretch, Murphy aside. Terry Dischinger and Dave Schellhase lead that way.

Some of us will still beg to differ on calling Edey Purdue’s “all-time scorer.” While that’s true for total points, Mount’s 32.3-point career scoring average beats Edey’s 18.2 by 14.1 points per game. That difference alone tops Robbie Hummel’s career scoring average (14.0) as well as the career averages for 30 other fellow 1,000-point scorers out of Purdue’s total of 57 – namely, JuJuan Johnson (13.7), Todd Mitchell (13.7), Keith Edmonson (13.1), Chad Austin (13.1), Cuonzo Martin (13.1), Eugene Parker (13.0), Jaraan Cornell (12.8), Dennis Blind (12.6), Melvin McCants (12.4), Steve Reid (12.3), A.J. Hammons (12.1), Brian Cardinal (12.0), Brad Miller (12.0), Braden Smith (11.9), Vince Edwards (11.9), Woody Austin (11.6), Fletcher Loyer (11.4), David Teague (11.4), Isaac Haas (11.2), Bruce Parkinson (10.9), Trevion Williams (10.8), Stephen Scheffler (10.5), Mike Robinson (10.0), Kenneth Lowe (10.0), Jerry Sichting (9.9), Drake Morris (9.9), Terone Johnson (9.8), Matt Waddell (9.2), Dakota Mathias (8.1) and Rapheal Davis (7.7). Too big a gap to ignore.

Coach Wooden belongs on Purdue’s all-campus Mt. Rushmore, too, piloted by Neil Armstrong and Gus Grissom with Orville Redenbacher providing snacks and rotating seats with Amelia Earhart, Roger Chaffee, Elwood Mead, Charles Ellis, Games Slayter, Brian Lamb, Pete Dye, Drew Brees, George Peppard, Herman Cain, Ruth Siems, Gene Cernan and Sully, among others. Packed plane.

indinia, on the other hand, has given the world Jim Jones (killed 918 at Jonestown), Emily Harris (murderess and Patty Hearst kidnapper), Tim Durham (50 years for corporate fraud) and Jared Fogle (from Subway to 15 years for child abuse and porn), plus an occasional drop-in named Charles Manson. Nice rock pile there, heh? They don’t wear those devils’ pitchforks for nuthin’.

Tuskegee Airmen will no longer be taught to Air Force recruits

That is exactly my point in all of this. These right wingers say merit this. Merit that. And seeming every black selection by Biden and others are DEI hires. But yet Hegseth is arguably the most non-qualified for Def Secretary that I can remember. These same folks even called arguably the most qualified Sec of Defense, Lloyd Austin a DEI hire even though Biden never said that he was going to select a black person in that role. If that even makes a difference. Similarly, with Goetz and RFK Jr. Ne'er one of them is qualified for their selections. Good thing Goetz dropped out. Seemingly, his replacement is much more qualified for this role than he can ever imagine.
For FUKKS SAKE! The reason why we say DEI this and DEI that about Biden's hires are because:

1. Biden himself stated the number one qualification was skin color, THEREFORE it's more than likely the best person for the job was overlooked. IF the best person was a black lesbian woman then that's who it was, but that's not how that brain dead imbecile hired and it showed!
2. These people he hired were SHIIT at their job!
3. MANY of them should have been fired because they were so shiit at their job, but Biden refused to fire anyone

You have no F'ing clue what Hegseth's qualifications are so you're here bitching. Perhaps his best qualification for what we need is the fact that he isn't tied to the military industrial complex, but has enough military knowledge to know how to move our military forward.

If it was a black man, you wouldn't say shiit. Even if it was Hank "Guam is going to capsize and tip over" Johnson. That guy is another example of DEI and a testament to how stupid Democrat voters can be.

Tuskegee Airmen will no longer be taught to Air Force recruits

Now I see it. My bad.

To be clear, I have not mentioned DEI once in this thread. Choosing Hegseth has nothing to do with DEI........other than one of the reasons he was chosen was to end it.

You believe his selection is merit based. From what I can tell, the arguments against DEI from your side say that people should be selected because they are the best qualified.

How is Pete more qualified than any other former army Major? Colonel? General? Has he been in charge of any large organizations? His positions at various veterans groups resulted in demotions and forced resignations. His best job since his military career appears to be the Fox News weekend gig. Please tell me how his appointment is merit based considering all the above.

Purdue recruiting Purdue legacy talks visit, offer from Boilers

Sunday marked a full circle moment for 2026 athlete Jett Goldsberry, earning an offer from his father’s alma mater, #Purdue.

"It's like a dream come true, really.”

Tuskegee Airmen will no longer be taught to Air Force recruits

Bob, if you read what you quoted you would not only see the answer, but the differentiation between individual appointments and DEI. It's all there. BTW did you see that the DEI material was removed from the Tuskegee airmen but the rest of the historic video's were retained. Not sure if this hits CNN and it's ilk?

Did you know....

I am actually surprised Duke is that high. I know Duke was probably #1 while Coach K was there, but before the 80's didnt think they were a top profram, and that list is really about a 100 year history, not 40 years
If you look up their YOY results, they were plenty good before Coach K. Only 14 losing seasons since 1905, and 3 of those were actually with K.

Remaining schedule predictions

Conference title becomes more meaningless every time we expand. Just last year we played over half (7 of 13) the conference twice. Now we only play 3 opponents of 17 home and away. Obviously the schedule is a bigger factor than ever. Who do you have to twice? Where do you get to play against other contenders? Where do you get to play against the bottom of the league?
Yeah, it won't be the same as football because you do actually play everyone at least. And I do think the B1G did the scheduling about as good as they possibly could. But there's no way to avoid an unbalance to some degree.

At the same time though, I keep going back and forth on whether it's better to have - in Purdue's case anyway - single road games at Illinois and Michigan State as opposed to home games. Home games would be 'easier' to win but the road games are better for the metrics.

Big Ten only going to get 8 teams in the Tournament!

A lot of basketball left to be played. I don't think there are any true locks yet, if we define "lock" as doesn't need to win another game between now and Selection Sunday to be in.

MSU, Purdue, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Maryland are all contenders for Top-5 seeds and should be in barring an epic collapse. Oregon and UCLA should be ok if they maintain their current pace. Ohio State has a so-so record but more attractive computer numbers.

Beneath that is a bunch of teams that have a ton of work to do: Penn State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Iowa, Indiana.

Southern Cal and Rutgers look like they're on the far side of the bubble.

Obviously what happens in other leagues will matter as well.
One thing that I haven't heard talked about much this year is that there's one more at-large spot because of the Pac-12 disbanding. Granted, that "extra" team will probably be one from a mega-conference, the expansion of which caused the Pac-12 to disband.

DraftExpress scout at the game last night

Despite his illness, he and Purdue (because it's the NCAA institution that makes the application) would not be able to apply for a medical hardship waiver. He played in too many games, and it wasn't season-ending.

There's chatter about a 5th year of eligibility going forward - haven't seen anything where that would be extended to players currently in their last year of eligibility.....but who knows? It's becoming a free-for-all anyway, sooner or later.

And now......back to our regularly scheduled programming - Get Off my Lawn, New Pal! I just planted that bluegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, featherbed bench and northern California sinsemilla hybrid mix.
I could use some of that warm weather...
