We are a FF contender if THIS version of Caleb Furst returns for the 24/25 season.

To quote Jon Rothstein " Death Taxes and Matt Painter" It's not the players you have but how you use what you have. I suppose we all forget the great coaching job, or we take it for granted. He lost the two biggest parts of his recruiting class, and yet we are title contenders for both the B1G Ten and National Championship. I doubt we would be much better with Catchings or Jacobsen replacing Cox and Furst. Props to Caleb he knows the game and how to play it. But for me I'm in awe of another GREAT coaching job.

I suppose if things fell just exactly 100% perfect on matchups....maybe NC?? Long odds on that though. But agree, more likely a shot at a B10 championship is still realistically in reach.

100% agree on coach. A master of his craft.

Trump flexed, Hamas caved.. Shocker

I think both deserve credit, I realize on these boards this isn’t likely a good answer. The partisanship on here is an example of how social media has divided this country, we actually have groups of people (both sides) that would rather see things go bad than give the other side credit.
I'm happy, but when things happen it is always appropriate to ask...what happened and why now? Having known Ulric Haynes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulric_Haynes (RIP) due to his friendship with a brother-in-law and one of the negotiators in the 400 day hostage situation in Iran I realize his and others never contributed to the release. It wasn't until the day Reagan took office that they were released and we know why that is so. Same with Trump, and they can wait out for him to leave office with anticipation that another won't carry the stick Reagan and Trump carried. They will play the long game...

Purdue at Washington: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

I don't usually go into the game thread during the game and sometimes don't even after a game. But when I do, a big part of the reason is to see what the mental midgets (and notably that guy) said in an emotional fit.
There’s 3 that come to mind, sometimes I wonder if 1 person has a few accounts? Many times the posts come right after the other. Let’s bench TKR the entire second half and let’s play the reserves in the second half is moronic, if Painter does that Purdue loses the game, Heaven forbid a player and team in a road game out west has a down first half. Purdue was 7.5 favorites last night, they covered, great second half, let’s win another in Oregon, won’t be easy.

Purdue at Oregon

17 turnovers in the first half did us in. This team isn't built to come back from deficits, and with how offensively challenged we are, we need to get a shot off as much as possible each possession down the court. Hard to do with 17 first half turnovers.

Negatives - Turnovers^

Collier - 31 mins. 0-2. Battled on the boards but for as much as she plays, she brings no threat driving to the hoop, isn't making plays for other teammates. She's probably in the right spot defensively but has her limits athletically. I wouldn't mind seeing Swanson take some of her minutes.

Positives -

Spider Jones - yes 6 turnovers, and most of them were horrendous, but she played much better in the 2nd half, maybe had 1 TO? in the 2nd. 17 points on 8-10. Drove the ball, had her mid range going. 4 asts as well. She's the only player as of now that can get to the bucket and create for others. Said it before, she's at her best when she's driving to score. When she's driving to pass, the bad outcomes are more likely to appear.

Layden - 9 points(career high?), 9 rebs. She was active defensively and battled down low. Good first start, I'd like to see her start the rest of the year and log heavy minutes. You can see her gaining confidence. She also does a relatively good job protecting the ball.

Final thoughts -

We really need a point guard who can take care of the ball, create open looks for everyone, and be a threat scoring wise. Reynolds and Poole need more minutes to see if one or both are able to play at this level.

It's crazy to me how Poole is being played. 7 minutes against MSU, no minutes against UCLA, start and get 11 minutes against Michigan, and then DNP again against Oregon.

Amiyah starts several games, but gets single digit minutes in many/most of them.

Collier still starting even though her numbers in Big Ten play are atrocious. She leads the team in minutes played at 29.5, but averages 4.5 ppg which is 7th on the team and the greatest shooter Katie Gearlds has EVER seen is shooting a blistering 30% fro the field and from behind the arc.

Another positive I would mention is our freshmen posts held their own against 6'8" Kyei. Kyei still got 12 points, but she did not dominate us the way you might think a senior that big might.

Purdue at Washington: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Watching Iowa State and Kansas. Dickenson, you goon.
Dicke
TKR can honestly not see a ****ing MINUTE in the 2nd half and I would be MORE THAN FINE with it
That would have been real smart, you’re posts are something out of a 9 year old give me my ball back variety.

Trump flexed, Hamas caved.. Shocker

If you were Hamas, wouldn't you play the long game? They don't want to ignore Trump's words knowing that "sometime not declared" (unlike some before him) he will follow through. They know to not push the tiger and hope the people in the USA forget and vote dumb again in four years...or possibly longer. They are not in a hurry to achieve their goals and already have some kids supporting them along with some others...

Trump flexed, Hamas caved.. Shocker

Likely won't take pay again. Only President not to do so.

Assumed his duties in Nov. & has been rolling ever since. Driving the extremist left wackos nuts as we have seen......at the capital, on the Internet, in the news and even here. It's all 100% entertaining.
Although credit to Trump on THAT drive, "it" is not that long!

Furst is playing great. Really helping on D. Glad he had a nice offensive game too.

Raises the ceiling of the team. Because he is a fit for the needs..... experienced and helps on D and rebounding. But in contrast with OP, not sure that ceiling is FF though? E8.....maybe?

Sure there is a chance. Given the emergence of Cox, the stability of the 2nd best PG in the nation....the do everything, Smith and development of great D, anything is possible.

Remind me again...when was the last time Israel shot first?
Exactly. This is a great example of @typeviic swallowing the anti Israel narrative without considering all the facts. None of this would be happening if Israel wasn't attacked first and Israel has given up land on multiple occasions in the pursuit of peace.

Furst at last

15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and a block against those Husky boys … and 5-0 as a senior starter.

I’ve argued on this board for years that all Caleb Furst needed was more minutes. Not even a Mr. Basketball can do crap in 180-second cameos. Besides, stats rarely do him justice. He’s a 6-10 dude who’s very mobile with a nice touch, quick hands and superior intelligence. His presence in the paint alone alters drives and shots, and his ability to quickly position and block out big men routinely sets up teammates for rebounds. And do take notice of his repeated flicks out to Smith for steals and rebounds. Take Buddy the Elf and Angry Elf to Rome and watch them pick pockets.

Too bad he’s too nice of a guy to tell you people who wanted him gone to stick it. Be glad he stuck.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and the truth, but Hamas only agreed to release 33-35 of the 100 hostages as part of this truce.
I too hate to be the bearer of bad news . . .the cease-fire is not going to happen on Biden's watch.

All that is true, but his abilities matched the void in this team resulting in him and the team being improved as a result of him playing. FWIW, last year before the first game (was there an intrasquad game?) I was talking to Braden's grandfather and he was talking about Caleb getting minutes with his hustle and such, and I right or wrong, I told him he was lacking in skill...and to watch him shoot. As others have said...he knows his strengths and is playing within them and becoming the best of himself. He has been a huge boost to this team.

We are a FF contender if THIS version of Caleb Furst returns for the 24/25 season.

One thing that changed is that Furst stopped trying to be cute. He’s not trying to be a three point shooter, but has embraced his role as the physical tough guy down low. It seems to me that by embracing that role he’s been able to relax and just play. He was really finishing well last night and some of those buckets that he scored were very impressive to watch.

Basketball is such a mental game. We see it with many, if not most, players at points in their career where they get in their heads for stretches. Furst seems to now be on the other side of such a (quite long) stretch and it’s not a coincidence that Purdue is rolling.
Completely agree. He and the coaches have made the game simple for him, by him just doing the dirty work. To add, he is playing with an increaed confidence level as a result of. Lastly, knowing the end of his college career is approaching, has fueled an added edge now. Go Caleb!!
