OK, sadly, things are trending up again.
As of 3pm today, 6 states (WV, Montana, ND, SD, IN, OH) have recorded a record number of daily new cases and 6 other states (Iowa, OK, Minne, Wis, Illinois, Nebraska) are either 2nd or 3rd highest for their state (this will technically be the 5th highest for Illinois, but it is second highest since May).
Back in late July, we were hitting the 60,000 cases per day level, but around half of that was from 3 states (California, Texas, Florida). We are now back into the 60k level, but it is more evenly distributed (those three states are only reporting a total of about ~10,000 cases now).
Not sure if this is because people are getting lax with the masking / social distancing or if this is a bump from Labor Day / Schools starting.
