The Capitol Police totally got caught with their pants down on this. They were not ready......
It will be really interesting to see if they fully investigate who made what calls and direction during the planning for the police support for the day.

DC gets tons of protests and the like ... I’m sure they have pretty solid procedures and planning processes ... and they HAD to know there was the potential for some really bad stuff. Trump and his supporters have been planning the rally for a long time.

The new gun toting congresswoman from Colorado giving inside info to the insurrectionists in real time?

Yeah, until this is fully investigated, I'll give the theory some airtime.

Damn straight. And neither Pelosi or McConnell has demanded it. But I guess if you aren't even in session it's kind of tough.

Bob in some ways I admire your passion about this stuff, but don't you find grinding on tihs exhausting at times? You have more energy about it than pretty much anyone on tihs board. My dad is 91 and has literally been alive for like 35% of the presidents. He says they come on go and we've endured a lot of good and bad. Maybe we should all stop fighting with each other on social media and spend more times with our families, etc.?

Appreciate your concern.
I've been a political junkie all my life.
I've believed from the start that Trump was a clear and present danger to our republic. I've acted accordingly here and elsewhere.
I spend lots of time with my family, including my one year old grandson. BTW, my daughter and son in law are Trump supporters. Not over the top but voted for him in 2016. Don't know about this election because we don't talk about politics. I will not let an ignorant, moral degenerate of a president affect my family. We talked about it several years ago. Works well for us.

Good for you! I have been able thus far, to refrain from saying anything to the members of my family who voted for Trump in 2016. Not sure if any voted for him in 2020. They all appear to be totally against him now!

I wonder if the Dems ever thought how much millions of people don't like their policies given that they would vote for Trump with his massive faults. As I have noted before, I have a lot of friends who have been extremely successful and are 100x more accomplished than me who voted for Trump. Not all Trump voters were ignorant Hillbillies.

jesus christ. Can go the other way to then. Has the GOP ever realized that 83 million people voted for Biden since all they spout off about is Trump's voters?

Were those policies more important than our democracy? Because by refusing to accept the election results and encouraging his followers to protest and fight back, he put our democracy in peril.

For the more "seasoned" voters you mention, it appears to me the reason, or fallback position, has been to argue they voted against socialism.

I don't get that. Obama was in power for 8 years and a lot more progressive than Biden and we didn't become a socialist nation. What makes them believe it will happen now........other than the aforementioned fallback position........or they simply believed what trump told them.

It is interesting and puzzling to reflect on why Trump received the support he did. I think a lot voted against the Clintons rather than for Trump and some of that is because of social media. E.g., I do not like the Clintons but I don’t believe that Hillary was running a child sex ring in the basement of a pizza place in D.C. Also, I believe that Russia interfered in the election but I am not sure how much that helped Trump.

Gotta love Charlie. He deleted the tweet bragging about paying for the buses to the rally.

Im always surprised the bimbos the radical right chooses to embrace. Charlie Kirk needs to go back to his moms basement like the rest of the qnon Trump cucks
Yes because these anonymous White House sources have a great track record of honesty and accuracy.......What’s the excuse for not giving sources now that Trump is set to leave office in just over a week?

Is this the best you got? This is what you are worried about? Meanwhile the nation is preparing for the bloody onslaught from the next round of Trump domestic terrorism that is coming next week. Congrats republicans for trying to turn us into a shithole country that doesn’t have a peaceful transfer of power.

Trump was a means to an end with the end being millions don’t want someone like AOC, who has maybe a 4th grade understanding of economics, in charge. I don’t think it’s complicated. She’s a very good speaker, but so was Warren Harding.

I am sorry but I don’t understand your argument. How would someone like AOC be the impetus to elect Trump since she was not elected until 2018? Trump was elected in 2016.

They do have a great record of honesty and accuracy. The trump WH has leaked like a sieve for 4 years.

Excuse for not giving sources? Are you serious? Why should they? Do you know anything about journalism?

You’re replies and takes are so moronic and off base I don’t even know where to start.

Please provide us with examples of these anonymous White House sources having been accurate the last 4 years
And when the “anonymous” sources always prove to be wrong, it starts to erode the credibility of these constant “anonymous” stories. Why should the sources be afraid of putting their name behind their info? After all, that’s what good journalists do, they get info from good credible sources who are willing to stand behind their information.

I think in '16 millions of people voted for Trump due to the Supreme Court. I am one of the few who's ambivalent about abortion and gun control. My issues with the court were as a leader with a large workforce. in the past 15 years, the have been numerous decisions by the 7th circuit, for an example, that were just insane relative to employment law. IMHO we had way too many judges who were beyond clueless as to workplace dynamics, etc. That was my biggest concern by far along with income redistribution. I for one, based on my comp at the time (which was pretty decent compared to where I am now) feel like an all in tax burden (when you total up federal, state, local, Medicare and FICA) which was north of 40% was enough. I don't mind higher marginal rates, but at what level does it start?

Re 2020, yes people like AOC who, again, demonstrate pretty much zero understanding of economics are really scary imho. I am sure many disagree. Obviously not all of the 75 millon people who voted for Trump are crazy hillbillies despite what the mob on here espouses.

One member of the HOR was going to drive us to communism! Tony, really?

Have I ever mentioned the word communism on here? Stop the the drama. AOC is every bit as polarizing as Trump. You don't think she has quite a bit of influence.

Really? Why don't you provide those that weren't lol.

Here's one of the latest. Trump didn't even call to check on Pence after the assault on the Capitol after Pence was rushed out by secret service. They didn't talk until last night. They previously reported trump was furious with him for fullfilling his constitutional duty.
WH house and administrative staff were shocked by Trump's response to the attack. Trump was pushed by Cippilone and Mccarthy to do the two minute video, and now he's expressing regret. They were afraid of he could have legal exposure for inviting the riot.

Meanwhile the WH has not had a press conference nor has there been any briefing on the riot.

It's the same as it always has been. You can't admit this admin is and has been a cluster. Just call it fake news, blame the media, onto the next lie.

I am no fan of hers. She is a junior member of the House that sits on two minor committees. Her only influence is that she is a bogey woman of right wing news sources.

I honestly do not think she has much influence at all. She is young and “woke” and gets a lot of media attention but who is paying attention to her. Same with the woman from Minnesota whose name I can’t remember. Outside of their congressional districts who knows or cares what they think

I don't agree much with most policies she likes, but I do enjoy her calling out people's BS and hypocrisy during hearings.
