WOW Lowe gone...

Hey, maybe Matt brings in a guy with Zone experience that can sell him...someone not as stubborn as Matt? Losing Owens and Lowe will take a lot of experience in what Matt has done in the past

Thank you @CoachPainter for hiring me 4 yrs ago.I learned so much from you and your staff. I will be joining @MiamiCoachO staff.THANK YOU
Wow is right! I hate to lose one of my favorite boilers! Replacing two coaches will be tough. Not touching the "zone" comment. ;)

That just sucks. I really didn't think Burke didn't realize how badly we needed a minority when he hired Matt. Now I'm beginning to think that Matt doesn't get it either. Whomever he brings in better be solid in minority recruiting. (And no, I'm not saying Lowe did that much recruiting. )

OT: You probably won't be able to use that word for too much longer. I'm pretty sure white people/caucasians (or European-American, as I prefer to be called, tic) will be minorities in the United States within the next 25 years or so, if not sooner.

Anyway, as to what you were referring, he still has Brandon Brantley on staff and he still a vacancy to fill, so he needs to be smart about his options.

Can you elaborate Heller? Are you saying Burke should have hired a black head coach instead of CMP? Sorry, guess I'm not quite following.

Hmm. This year we had Brantley and Owens who were minorities so I'm not a math guy but depending on how you slice the pie that is 2/4 or 2/5. So yeah....

Said it in an earlier posting - if it was a lower level assistant - Lowe probably gets promoted. Since it is the associate head coach, he needs someone with experience.

I really thought Kenny would get Jacks job here. I'm surprised. Matt will need a couple great hires. Would like to see at least one of the hires be someone outside of the program.

This concerns me. I keep hoping to come on here and see that a new assistant coach has been hired.......now KL is gone. I hope there are some good options out there, because, to me, this is a big deal.

Good luck Kenneth...........one of my hands down favorites!!!

He was the video coordinator with no coaching experience. To think he would replace the associate head coach is ridiculous.

Sorry no offense but we need someone with experience and who can recruit.

Maybe Matt will go after the dad of the Lawson brothers who both are transferring to KU from Memphis. There are two other younger brothers who I think are both considered top 25 players. TIC

He had the title of video coordinator but he was still around the team almost everyday and from what I hear now, and what I heard during his student days, he is well liked by everyone. I just don't see how you can have too many Kenny Lowe's around your program. Given the chance he could probably run his own program so I have no doubt he knows the role and the job. He didn't have to be the Associate head coach or whatever. He just needed to get a raise and the assistant title.

Don't disagree that he is well liked all around. I have heard similar things but we need someone with a proven track record.

I think he would have done fine but Painter needs someone with experience who can recruit.

Is it not a no-brainer to gauge the interest of Robbie Hummel in potentially replacing Lowe in this position?

Kenny was very good in his role, and no doubt was great as a representative of (and for) Purdue...that said, while a loss, I would have been surprised to see him as the replacement for Owens...or to have him on staff and have Gary and Brantley move up.

Purdue is desperate for a genuine quality assistant coach that has hopefully shown already an ability to recruit...although it is not as if there are lots of such guys floating around out there looking to be hired obviously.

Right now, over 50% of all US children age five or under are considered to be part of a minority group. I don't think the term will be deemed inaccurate however as each minority group alone will still be considered a minority. But I did get your point.

This, this, and more of this. Lowe wasn't ready yet. This is a great move for him to get more experience. He could very well end up back at Purdue further down the road. Him leaving shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Look for Painter to give a good look at the top Clemson assistant that got let go today.

It seems like he could find an assistant coach that's still working (hasn't just been fired) but if the fired guy is a really good recruiter, then he might be worth an inquiry.

Uhhhh...why is this "wow"? This was expected for weeks. Good for him.
Agree this shouldn't shock anyone.

As far as Zo coming here to coach, no thanks. I like Zo don't get me wrong and he is a good recruiter, but he has yet do anything with those recruits and is achieving less in comparison to CMP. Could you even imagine what this board would be like considering all of that?

I love Zo. I think he would have done a great job at Purdue. Has never been anywhere long enough to really find out. I think we'll know soon about Missouri. But, that ship has sailed and nothing to be gained but rancor talking about Zo vs. Matt. To me it's a wow at losing two coaches. Maybe Matt will hire someone better. Some of you that are in the "know" probably "know" who the next coaches will be? ;)

Expected is not reality until it happens...and that is why the WOW. I think we all knew the possibility was high as was another position in Purdue...the WOW is also in reference to two people being lost off the staff in a year. None unbelievable, but all concerning...

As I mentioned elsewhere....Steve Lutz from Creighton.....Name to watch.

What do you think if that is the guy to fill one of the replacements?

SMART is the key word. Fill the open positions based on "most qualified" and who will help us get to the next level...

Fully agree here. Keady lost Stallings and we went down a little. Keady lost Weber and we went down a little. Painter lost Martin and we went down a little. I now expect to go down a little since continuity has been broken.

I have informed everyone I am not available at this time and will continue my coaching career from the internet chat room aspect, the large sectional couch with cold drink and Large HD TV section until I feel I can bring my talent to the Purdue bench.

I want to thank the University and the Purdue staff for understanding at this time and once I can perfect the making and drinking of Long Island Ice Tea and Baltimore Zoo's traditional drinks from Harry's I may consider future opportunities.

Ha Ha!

Hmm..Yet he's moving into that role at Miami

I was contacted earlier in the week concerning player development overall and specifically the 2 and 3 spots with emphasis on driving the ball and shooting in general...and why intense focus on passing improvement. Everything was going well, but was cautioned that my bumping, jamming cutters would not be as effective today. Then out of the blue when asked what my natural lean was defensively between man, match-up and pure zone...I struggled a bit between match-up and man and in my hesitation the interview was immediately cut off due to trying to lock down an expert on pure zone defenses...and so I guess I'll continue to not get paid...

He's moving to assistant role... which CB said he wasn't qualified for.
If Kenny was qualified he wouldn't have left. Painter encouraged him to take the job at Miami because he said he needed someone with proven experience to take Jack's spot.

Continue with your slights if you like but truth is on my side.
