Purdue should never have been in a bowl with an Auburn. Not this year at least. Going to the bowl should have helped PU's inroads into the south....getting blown out with an old fashioned butt whoopin' of epic proportion was an embarrassment that most likely damaged recruiting for a long time.My dad and I had this conversation. ..would you rather get blown out at a bowl game on national TV, or finish the season 5-7 with a strong finish going into next season? I know bowl practices are valuable, but that has to hurt the ego. Hopefully they return hungry.
I’m not sure that could possibly be more of an exaggeration.an embarrassment that most likely damaged recruiting for a long time.
I think it could help with recruiting showing we are still at that "if you come to Purdue, you might start feom day 1". There are only 6 people on offense and defense that I think are locked in as starters next season. That offers a lot of possibility.Purdue should never have been in a bowl with an Auburn. And in no way do I want to put this loss on the players. They did the best with what they had to do with.
Believe what you want. But take off the PU glasses before you say it's an exaggeration...because if PU is recruiting you and Auburn is recruiting you, Auburn is already ahead on points.I’m not sure that could possibly be more of an exaggeration.
Purdue and Auburn don’t cross paths on the recruiting trail very often. One game isn’t gonna make much difference. Brohm has been able to sell recruits on a vision despite similar on field results. He’ll continue to do so until the talent is sufficient to support the vision.Believe what you want. But take off the PU glasses before you say it's an exaggeration...because if PU is recruiting you and Auburn is recruiting you, Auburn is already ahead on points.
Agreed. If I were a Brohm I’d be tempted to paint 10 foot tall font 63-14 on the wall of the training room. Pure motivation. The bowl game is better. To add to others point, the returning players should be hungrier to prove this game was a fluke and that they aren't as bad as they looked. Get in the training rooms and work their butts off to be ready for next season.
because if PU is recruiting you and Auburn is recruiting you, Auburn is already ahead on points.
in hindsight, we should have gotten the Pinstripe bid and Wisky should have gotten our game,Down the road, all people will remember was Purdue lost to Auburn in a bowl game. Nobody will remember the score. much like Michigan lost to Florida. being in a bowl game and losing is much better than not being in the game.
Think about it,
if Purdue was 5-7 that would mean we lost to IU, and we'd never hear the end of that.
in hindsight, we should have gotten the Pinstripe bid and Wisky should have gotten our game,
Didn't Auburn get their tails whipped last year by UCF? Malzhan kept saying they used last season as a motivation. Brohm will turn this embarrassment into a learning lesson.
100% bowl game. We had a blast in Nashville. My dad and I had this conversation. ..would you rather get blown out at a bowl game on national TV, or finish the season 5-7 with a strong finish going into next season?
