I just hope Israel's PG isn't name Moses because no matter how tough of defense we play, there's probably going to be an open path to the basket.

With the way our guys have shot the ball the last few games, I kinda wish there wasn't a day off tomorrow. Israel has really shot the ball well too. I'm not sure how much value there is in this since all the opponents were different, but here's a quick stat comparison based on what's posted on the Taipei games site:

Stat: USA (Pool C play) vs Israel (Pool D play)

Points Scored: 544 vs 464
Points Allowed: 330 vs 358
Point Diff: +214 vs +106
FG%: 52% vs 52%
3P%: 43% vs 40%
FT%: 72% vs 70%
Reb Margin: +93 vs +26
Ast: 106 vs 125
TO: 84 vs 78
Steals: 74 vs 49
Blocks: 20 vs 26

Rebounding was the one stat that really stood out to me. Israel crushed Russia & Ukraine on the boards (+19 each game), but they lost the rebound battle in the other 3 games.

Out of pool play undefeated with an average scoring margin of 40+! The only team that came within 20 was Argentina I think. And all without Haarms who I have to think will make the rotation. This could be a special year.

When I look at these brackets I am extremely excited. Not to dis on Serbia but I have to believe they are the weakest of the four #1's.

I think that our chance to get to the finals is much better in this side of the bracket than if we were switched with Germany.

The USA is #1 in the comparative ranking. Israel is #6. The other game on our side is between #5 Finland and #7 Serbia.

#2 Germany has #9 Latvia then faces the winner of #3 Latvia and #4 Argentina.

I am excited!!!

My concern is this is a new gym......they were lights out in the other one...let's hope they get some practice in the new gym.

If not ride the horses down low until the shots start to fall.

Eastern is a beast driving the rim!

Looking at Israel's roster, they do have some height. One of their starting guards looks to be playing for Florida in the in the fall. Couple of 6-10 centers as well.

Israel is one of the top three teams, imo. Gotta get past them before thinking about the next opponent.

ya know...as I sat there watching TV at the end of the game yesterday I couldn't help but notice the gym with the baskets sitting out in space like some domes that "usually" seem to produce poorer shooting from the perimeter and yet "early" the boilers scorched the nets. Seems like Purdue comes out of the gate better than some teams as well
