I think all motor vehicles should be registered. I also think that every person allowed to drive a vehicle should be required to pass a written and driving test and be issued a license. In addition any person caught driving while intoxicated, without a license, vehicle registration or insurance should lose their right to drive. These laws will eliminate these tragedy's. NOT.
As is proven time and again only law abiding citizens follow laws.

Go ahead and find me one person, anyone, anywhere, at any time who has said reasonable gun control laws will "eliminate" all future tragedies involving guns.

Do you think requiring vehicle registration, testing, and DUI laws have ZERO effect on these things? If so, then why not advocate for their repeal?

We have severely lessened the carnage that the drunk drivers had been causing with the stiffer laws we now have in place. The world is not just black and white and there are no perfect answers to most problems but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to make modifications to the law to deal with societies problems.

So are you saying we don't need any laws on how people drive because they don't do any good anyway?

I'm trying to deciphre this word salad, so tell me where I went wrong:

1. You think if it doesn't solve something 100%, then it isn't necessary.
2. We have laws against DUIs, but since it doesn't "stop everything" it's a waste of time.
3. Thus, since people will still use guns to kill, we shouldn't have laws on gun control because they can't stop all killing.

Oh and I guess 4. would be that you think "liberal" are saying that something (in that case gun control law) won't solve everything, but we need it anyways is "liberal logic."

One assumes you feel the same way about all criminal laws...murder, rape, larceny, etc...because there isn't a law in existence that stops all crime it is designed to address.

That would seem to be just plain old logic to me. You pass laws with the understanding that you won't stop every last person but that you will stop some, or make it harder for some, which would thereby reduce the occurrence of the crime you are seeking to reduce.

But apparently you think it's "liberal logic."

I am not so sure the issue is lack of gun laws. I am out in Denver right now, know prosecutors from the Columbine tragedy, and they will say in that event over two dozen gun laws were broken.

Like immigration and other issues with me, how about we at least try to enforce the laws already on the table before we start writing more. I mean, I just do not get why write all of the laws if they are not enforced anyway?

Well, maybe if we make sure the people that buy guns are more responsible, we can prevent the next six year old from shooting his three year old brother in the head. Just a thought.
