With the new HC in place, where does he need to focus on with recruiting to close the class up??

I don't think with Brohm being named, that many of the current recruits would jump ship seeing as they haven't up to this point in time. I think with Brohm's attitude and charisma (and offensive prowess), he will get the recruits to stay. My question becomes, where does he need to focus to add guys as the signing day period comes closer? Should he focus on the players that are already in contact with the old staff? Does he try to flip some of his players over (of which, two of the three highest rated are 3* WR's)?

I think he needs to focus on keeping what we have, going after a handful of JUCOs, and going HARD after the class of 2018. Start keeping Indiana kids in-state or at Purdue.

In general, I think coaches try not to poach recruits from their prior school. Doesn't seem like the classy thing to do to me but what do I know. If a recruit contacts him and wants to follow him to Purdue and it fits a need at Purdue, do you pursue it?

Looking at players that currently have an offer or interest from WKU & Purdue: Can't access Rivals right now due to maintenance

O.J. Tucker - #81 CB per ESPN (79 grade)

Take full advantage of IU's sudden loss of Wilson and go after their top 6-7 recruits. Hopefully capture the top 3-4 from WKU. Blitz Chicagoland and try to pick off 3-4 that have committed to Wisky, Iowa, NW and Illinois (WKU has more Chicagoland kids on the roster right now than Purdue has). Then keep what we can of our current commits. That's about the best we canb hope for this year.

The fact that the discussion is whether we should go after Western Kentucky recruits or not....says a lot.

Just an honest question here:
How realistic is it to think Purdue can poach from IU's recruits? The Hoosiers hired in-house, and while Tom Allen hasn't been there long, he has been a hit -- as far as I can tell.

I don't think you see a ton of movement regardless. There may be some who go elsewhere, but I think for the most part people stick with where they are committed. If they don't like it, they'll transfer.

We probably could not flip a D commit since he was the DC but probably could flip a O commit or two!

Fair question but the fact that Wilson was badgering medical staff for six years to clear injured players to play and no one said a word about it says a good deal about the culture these kids are signing into. I don't foresee a widespread mutiny but maybe some second thoughts with a new coach at Purdue?

Probably unlikely, but doesn't hurt to gauge interest. Without examining the list maybe there is a kid who would have been interested in Purdue but opted for IU because of Hazell (see Cronk last year). If anything the coaching disruption at IU or UC just gives them an excuse to re-open their recruitment.

Probably depends on how much of the staff stays. If there is a lot of turnover, probably opens the door some, especially if its on the offensive side.

I was wondering about recruiting for 2017 too. Hopefully Brohm can snag a few recruits from someone. I would think most are committed already?

he needs to focus on getting the best coordinators available signed up. You can survive 1 crappy recruiting class not a crappy coord.

Lock up those committed. Open the door to any highly ranked WKU commits, if they inquire. Hit the Juco Ranks. Linemen, Linemen, Linemen, on both sides.

Purdue currently has 10 three star recruits and four two star guys,so on average these players average out at 2.7 stars per recruit.IU has 10 three star players and five two star guys ,for an average of 2.66.So,I dont know if Purdue should bother trying to poach any of the IU guys.

Great point...and do we really think UC players are any better?? Tiller did well in the St. Louis area.

The question isn't whether they are better than our committed players. The question is are they the best players available to fill out our class.

Nice hire boilers. Congrats on the new coach and good luck in the coming years. Brohm appears solid. At the very least, his O will be fun to watch.

Wait - do we know for sure that Brohm wants to lock up ALL of the current commits?
