Why isn't Brohm the U of L coach already????

Hello, I come in peace, just here to read the chatter.

They keep saying on talk radio that Brohm's buyout goes down $1MM on Dec 5. If something is going to happen, it won't happen until after that. The next 3 weeks are going to be incredibly awkward for Mr. Brohm unless he comes out and categorically removes himself from consideration (which he may do).

He will need to make a very strong denial, however. If he says stuff like "I'm not cut like that, I love it here and I have a team already and a job to do!" it doesn't mean much. Louisville fans have heard this from football coaches weeks/days before watching them give a press conference at their new program.

Money won't be an issue for Purdue because the AD will throw anything to top whatever UL offers. So the buyout is rather irrelevant.

To me, like others have said on here, it boils down to how much Brohm wants to be back there since he liable will have to take a pay cut all things considered.

The buyout is irrelevant in the longterm, but it may be relevant in timing. I don't know what Brohm will do, but if Louisville can save $1MM by letting Brohm finish his season and waiting until Dec 5, then it will.

I feared Brohm would categorically deny any interest and take his name out of consideration today, and he didn't do that. It is going to be a long awkward 3 weeks and the rumor mill is going to be all over the place. I would not get too anxious or exhilarated over anything any of us read on Twitter.

What I meant by the buyout being irrelevant is that Purdue will throw money by the truckloads at Brohm. So yeah overall saving 1 million is a big deal, but like I said it will be a pay cut for him to go to UofL considering what our AD has said he is willing to do.

Not denying it directly doesn't mean much as he sorta did that when he said "I like where I am at". Twitter is just quoting his press conference at the moment.

We won't have to wait long either I don't think, if he is leaving it will be next to impossible to keep it from people.

This wont be about money. I dont think Louisville can win a bidding war. This will be about whether or not he wants to coach his alma mater.

He didn't take his name out of consideration for Tennessee either last year. Don't think that means much.

I think we can all agree that it would mean something if he did say, "I am categorically taking my name out of consideration for the open Louisville position."

As you mentioned, it doesn't mean much if he doesn't. Since he hasn't, it's going to be an awkward few weeks until resolved one way or another.

We're all saying the same thing - none of us know sh*t. LOL.

If you can leverage this into more pay at either location, why remove yourself?

That’s sick! There’s almost 100 people in the stadium!
Bad season. Cold heavy rainfall most of the game. Indiana State the opponent. Purdue would have a similar result with those same dynamics. That was pregame and three of the 4 sides of the stadium have club access so the fans make their way down to their seats when they want...especially against a team like ISU.

Jeff Brohm: Speaking this morning, Jeff Brohm addressed the Louisville opening by saying, “It’s important for me to not comment on any speculation. Right now, I have a job to do…. I’m going to stay focused on that. I’m very appreciative of the job I have right now.” Read into that what you will….
I read into that a coach saying exactly what an agent told him to stay, recognizing he’s in a very desirable negotiating position.

Honestly, this why there is little to no loyalty in sports. This happens to often but we are quick to judge a 17-18 year old kid that flips for a better offer. This is a grown man and I know he played, coached at Louisville but to think he needs Louisville to be great or have a legacy is just not right. Louisville needs him, not the other way around!

PJS may not be the best stadium in the world, but it sure is a whole lot nicer than that rust bucket you guys call a stadium.

Good luck finding your next head coach.
Ross-Ade may be a "rust bucket" as you say but at least we've never had to rename it to remove the slime of those associated with it.

No need for any of us good guys to slam UofL guy, they do a good enough job when they post their thoughts. I will take our ‘rust bucket’ the same way that Duke takes theirs and O$U takes theirs. I guess it’s hard when you have to tear down your past to build something new that you hope covers up something that could not help you build your future

You don’t understand business. Those words cannot and willnot come out. It’s called negotiating power. Would you give that away? Maybe he needs it, maybe he doesn’t. But he has it and you don’t give that away. Milton Wright and other recruits made their decisions to commit to Purdue and did not have UofL on their final list. JMHO BUT, if you say publicly that you are waiting to make your decision until you know if coach Brohm is staying or going...CJB said something to settle those boys minds. If he told them he is staying and then leaves, you can have him. You already had to get rid of two fools for coaches that will cost your school in excess of $55 million. If his character is that bad (which I don’t think it is) then he would be the perfect fit in Louisville for sure..fits right in...but I doubt that is him-sure those kids could follow him but remember they were choosing Purdue AND CJB, that’s why they needed him to confirm...and they said NO to schools that probably won’t have that position open anymore-OSU, BAMA, Iowa, Kentucky, etc...not UofL

So we had fools here as coaches, yet still owe Pitino $37 million for firing without cause?

Which is it? Pitino is a fool/clown/scum bucket cheater, or we owe him $37 million dollars for firing him? Cause it can't be both ... The fact is, we won't pay Pitino anywhere CLOSE to what his buy out is ... and everyone knows it.

And nice of you to slam the coach you claim is who you want to lead your school for the foreseeable future. ... I'm sure he's seeing all that from your fan base too, along with the noise about our coaching position being open.

He absolutely can be both. You didn’t fire him for screwing randoms in restaurants, looking the other way while his staff hired hookers...you fired him when the FBI busted him for paying recruits. You going to pay him a boatload of money and he’s still a cheater.

Ummm ... okay ... o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

His contract clearly had "for cause" which included assistants being nailed for breaking rules.

He ain't getting SQUAT.

But you go on believing it, if it makes you feel better about somehow keeping Jeff Brohm.

Nobody slammed CJB you are just angry...read it again, read it again

Louisville is about to embarrass themselves ala Tennessee last year and it’s going to be hilarious.

Everything I've ever heard about Brohm and Tennessee was that he was packed and ready to go when Tennessee botched the buyout. So I'm hoping Louisville doesn't make that same mistake (if it gets to that point).

Uhhh ... I DID read it ... here you go chief ... the ONLY way he chooses Louisville, his alma mater, his parents alma mater, his brothers alma mater, his former employer, the school he rooted for growing up is if his character is bad.

Try again son, you even reposted but FAILED to read it. ‘Which I don’t think it is’...north of the River that is the opposite of slamming someone...come on, you’re better than that, right?

You know all of those people? Which ones?

Try your head football coach for one. His name is Jeff Brohm. He doesn't come right out and say it, but it's pretty obvious in this link.

Of course you'll disagree in your next reply and say I'm speculating. I could counter your disagreement. You won't believe any Louisville fan and probably think he wants to stay at Purdue forever. I'll debate that he doesn't (whether he comes to Louisville or not) . It's so predictably boring that I've decided to pick lint out of my belly bottom instead because it's slightly more entertaining.

I’m going to get a bourbon these UofL posters are as sad as I must have sounded the ten years prior to CJB when all I talked about was ‘remember when Drew did_____?’

Except apparently for hookers. That was fine and dandy. After Pitino, Strong, and Petrino, it’s clear Brohm is too good of a human being to coach at Louisville. He isn’t a public philanderer, which appears to be a job requirement.

Dear tired UofL fanny, no one at Purdue EVER said he wants to or will stay here. You’re better than that too, maybe not though. His destination has been and will be UofL. We have ALL acknowledged that. But we are confident that it is not now, but eventually of course. You’re attempt to start a bickering of sorts over that is odd, at best. We ALL know his long term goal, duh....bourbon time
