Why Didn’t Painter Sub Out Players, and What Led to the Turnovers Late in the Game?

So true— we continue to see remnants of the subhuman turds who accosted Braden and his family after the FDU game.

It must really suck to look at life and this program the way so many pseudo Purdue fans do!

They’ll be all back here at the first sign of adversity— guaranteed
Quite hyperbolic lumping together someone that says, "concerning" with the lunatics

I totally agree with getting players out of the game wiht a huge lead. It's the best way to lose a key player with the other team pissed and willing to take a cheap shot. I'm in front of the TV yelling that same thing.
Right! Would’ve been better to get Harris, Berg and maybe Burgess some more minutes

Quite a leap there; considering the question was about resting the starters, especially after they kept giving the ball away

Great win but a bit concerning ….
Sorry if I offended or pissed you off with my reaction. IMO if that has you worried you’re looking for something to worry about. Its not like MP has them in trying to run up the score, he just wanted guys out there’s who could put it away and not lose their shit.

I don't think people understand how quickly a team can come back from a deficit with the 3 pointer in college basketball. That game wasn't over until the final 90 seconds.
Not that I recommend it but when just under 5 minutes if Purdue doesn’t turn it over and just hands them the ball after 30 seconds and sets the D they would roughly have 5 possessions of the remaining 2 1/2 minutes to score maybe 18 to tie it? With as big a lead as Purdue in my opinion don’t turn it over and you win and that isn’t counting going to the line. Naturally a tighter score and that may not hold.

Turnovers go for baskets depending on type, Location and direction of pass, but good ball control and FT shooting can pull out a lot of games. I know you know all of this, but Purdue had a big lead and Red already lite up his cigar. 😀

No problem at all - I totally see your point :)

it looked like we stopped playing. dumb passes right to mcneese, no awareness of defenders. just seemed like they lost interest with a 20 point lead.
Most likely and hard to fault them for it. When I watched TKR at his halftime interview he was clearly gassed.. McNeese gave it their all and we coasted at the end and still won by a good margin.

That's exactly why some of was were wondering why more fresh legs weren’t brought in. Maybe they’d bring some energy and play harder.

Because there wasn't a need to.
The logic was: if they were gassed to the point they could only coast, it would be productive to give them a breather AND potentially give our bench some experience yeah?

(Not trying to argue further, just addressing his troll comment when we are asking a pretty reasonable question, in a Message board designed specifically for it)

I don't think they were gassed. Timeouts in the NCAA tournament are a minute longer than they are in the regular season and that gives well conditioned guys ample time to catch their breath. It's wild to me that fans think they know better with this stuff than the coaches who see them every day and the trainers that are charged with keeping them in top shape.

Who cares? At this point you're just coming across as just trying to find something to nitpick about. i mean we're only talking a handful of irrelevant minutes that wouldn't have benefited anyone.

I don’t think any of us (or at least I) have claimed to know better than the staff, much less Painter. The players definitely looked gassed, and Braden again played all 40 minutes.

Last time we checked, we're still allowed to wonder, right? Pretty sure that’s the whole point of a message board… unless, of course, this is a dictatorship now.

Of course you are allowed to wonder. And we are allowed to respond with our perceptions of the situation.

definitely wasnt my intent, and your explanation makes sense - just crossed some of our minds as we were watching, that’s all

Precisely :) and I agree or at least see their point. I was just responding to the “you questioned something therefore you’re a troll” comments

Yeah, I don't get the whole troll thing unless someone has history.

I'll admit that I've been beat down by our fan base this year who seems to question everything. I've unfollowed a bunch of fan accounts on Twitter because they are starting to come across as what we've hated about the IU fan base for decades....a bunch of entitled blow hards.
