Who's Left? DC Candidate Wish List

So many chicken littles here. LSU doesn't have a DC yet either, should they be in panic mode?
Well, there is that little NCAA violation that LSU has. And the fact that you'd have to work for Orgeron, assuming you could understand what he says...

Or... You're hiring Jesse Minter (DB Coach, hence Brown's departure) when the Ravens season is over, and his Dad (Rick) is coming with him to coach the DL.
Where's this Jesse Minter thing coming from? Is there some kind of connection with he and Brohm?

I'm simply trying to look at the situation objectively. Purdue and LSU are in different classes. Purdue at its best is not as attractive a job as LSU. Arizona and S.C. are better comps, and each landed a primary target fairly quickly. There's no rush or panic per se, but understand that wherever Brohm is on his DC wish list, it is somewhere below Clayton White.

You’re relying on the SC media? Don’t take what they said at face value. It’s entirely possible that his offer was contingent on what Elston or someone else decided. It might not be an actionable offer, that is.

It might also be he was contacted by Purdue but it didn't go any further and it is getting reported as "turned them down"

Yes, because Purdue and its talent level are so similar to LSU...

The LSU opening would be appealing to dozens of candidates...more so if they did not have potential issues with the NCAA.

Never mind the obvious in that only a complete moron (and one is available now since the one Purdue had hired is now available) could not have success with all of the talent to work with.

Nobody is in panic mode or suggesting the need to be...but given how important the hire is, on the heels of such an awful decision just a year ago, the fact that no decision has been made is concerning is all...maybe that will be alleviated once the decision is made...based on what happened a year ago, maybe not.

Matt Canada didn't have success at LSU, offensive coordinator but the same principle applies, and he has had success everywhere else.

But all the best guys are gone now... according to this board. So LSU should be doubly screwed.

I said from the start, with the current state of the program, not to expect a 'name' guy to walk through the door. Now even an up-and-comer with WKU connections turns down the job. How many others have declined? Poindexter might end up being the most qualified. Use the war chest to go out and get some solid position coaches.
Who said he turned it down? What if it was never offered?

if Brohm gets the right guy, someone like a Danny Hope type, who can motivate the players and they go all out for him, that will make a big difference. Looking forward to seeing defense improve this year

Danny Hope was a good position coach.. And that's really about it. I'm sure he motivated the kids and he is a good man. But he was never a coordinator before he became a co-offensive coordinator at South Florida after he was let go by Purdue. And he was never really a head coach either...

Exactly! I was friends with the Associate Athletic Director at the time Tiller was hired. Prior to the announcement of the Tiller hire, Glen Mason made a big deal proclaiming how he turned down the job at Purdue. In all actuality, Purdue only had one conversation with Glen and then told him he was not a candidate. I would be skeptical of any reports.

I cannot believe nobody has said the most OBVIOUS answer:

Jeff Brohm is going to appoint HIMSELF as the new DC at Purdue... effectively taking over the offensive AND defensive playcalling duties. The DC salary will push Brohm's contract into the top5 for highest paid coaches, and make him the only coach in control of everything.

Then he can truly rule Purdue Football with an Iron Fist. One ring to rule them all. Kneel before BROHM!
;)

You missed my point

When you're a CFP contending program like LSU with the ability to hire away a currently employed DC from all but a handful of P5 programs, the definition of "gone" or "off the board" changes pretty significantly.

It isn't that simple otherwise it would have happened by now. And a reason that they had Bo Pelini to begin with.

From the Mark Hagen article- "Purdue still needs to hire a defensive coordinator/linebackers coach and cornerbacks coach as it comes off a 2-4 season. "

Does this mean that the new defensive coordinator will also be the linebackers coach as a slash separates the two and not a comma?

Tipping their hand accidentally, maybe?
