I think this would be cool to discuss after each game as the season goes on.. there were a lot of good options

for me, Jalen Graham was just outstanding .. but on defense you really could pick from a number of guys

on offense, plummer seems like the best choice but Hartwig looked pretty good too

Good points. On defense, you cant go wrong with Graham, but Johnson was good too.Plummer was great when the game was on the line, and Durham is emerging as a top level tight end.

Really impressed with Graham on D. But the whole D deserves a most improved player award for such a nice turnaround.

On O, I was really impressed with Plummer's demeanor and leadership under pressure.

Payne Durham took a step forward on O. Hard to say on D as they all played better than at most any point last year. Graham and Trice (making great stop) both are on my list.
Yeah kinda hard to say cause Hartwig went from an OK freshman to “wow the line is doing just fine up the middle.” But Durham went from already really good to “wow is this guy gonna be all conference and then some.” Tough comparison.

good problem to have when you have so many guys you could call most improved on both sides

Johnson was my second choice.. great call. He has only ever been okay sometimes before Saturday and then it’s like “wow, nothing is getting through the middle and Johnson is actually showing up and making plays.”

I am embarrassed to admit cause I thought the defense would be just okay.. could be REALLY good. The offense Oregon state has might have more speed and wide open attacking elements than most teams we face.. and that’s usually been where Purdue has struggled in the last 18 years

I expected Karlaftis and Bell to play very well and both exceeded my expectations. I also want to give some love to our kicker.

I gotta go Plummer on offense. His numbers would look good if he had sat comfortably in the pocket all night. Considering the pressure he faced I am that much more impressed with his night. On D I think Graham, followed closely by Trice

One player stood out the most....the kicker.

Man.. he was just ridiculously good. You think of him nailing those and you think of cam Allen snatching that ball instead of SO many almost ints over the years.. and those were plays that you can see a lot of teams blowing and losing that game 28-27

hats off for the coaches and players taking it personally and answering some questions

D - Graham is beginning to live up to the 4star recruit billing and I am hoping Grant isn’t far behind.

O - Plummer was about what I expected in Qtrs 1-3. I thought he went to another level in the 4thQ. I had my doubts, but he played exceptional football with the game on the line.

ST - Finneran was extraordinary.

Offense: Durham. Just going to be a beast the rest of the year. All the talk that Bell, Wright, etc get is well deserved, but Durham has appeared to take his game up a level. Not only receiving but blocking too.

Defense: Toss up between Trice and Graham. Trice seems to fit better in this defense and it was nice to see Graham to be used correctly. Neither one are square pegs being jammed into round holes.

Trice was good and had maybe the play of the game. He also got burned on a double move on the big play that set up OSU's last TD. Not sure if Grant was supposed to be covering the deep ball or what. That was just a disappointing coverage for 3:30 left in the game and up by 2 scores.

I meant to mention Finneran too. Damn it’s nice to have a kicker who can make field goals

What is this narrative? JD Dellinger and Spencer Evans have been the kickers for the last 3 or 4 years and have the 2nd and 3rd highest FG% at Purdue, 76%, since 2000. Could not find data prior to that, easily.

I think that the sentiment is that.. we haven’t always had a good kicker like dellinger leave and then here comes someone just roping long field goals right after them. It’s nice to not miss a beat there.. doesn’t mean that dellinger, Evans, Carson wiggs, Ben Jones and others weren’t really good

And that's a good point. But that doesn't appear to be the point of, "damn it's nice to be able to make field goals" but I could be misreading it

What BC said. It wasn’t a nock on anyone. Just glad we currently have a dependable kicker. Could easily end up being the difference in several games this year

I also think that the PUNTING was so bad last year that some people may be transferring really good field goal kicking to how bad the punting was

I never follow in the off-season but I don’t even remember the punter leaving or what happened .. I know I was excited to see him when he arrived
