I'm sure Izzo and Ksykiszkiye read the news about Shawn Miller and laughed. "Ha! What an amateur! Doesn't he have people to take care of the payments for him??" Those guys aren't going anywhere. Izzo is more likely to get popped for the sexual assault issues. Duke won't be phased. It's hard to teach your kids that "cheaters never prosper" when we live in a world where cheaters ALWAYS prosper, not just in sports.

I remember when in the Final Four in New Orleans in the late 90s, there was a local paper that had released an article implicating Duke and Coach K in payments to get Corey Magette. Didn't hear much after that. I suppose it could have been nothing, but if it was something, I get the impression K is the type of guy that has his bases covered. Didn't Lance Thomas receive benefits (like expensive jewelry or something)? I think that was pinned against an independent agent or something like that.

There’s no question many of Duke’s one and dones have been paid. But there’s no way K would get his hands dirty at this point in his career. It likely gets coordinated by Capel, and K would be “shocked” if and when word about payments gets out.

If I remember correctly, the jeweler gave Thomas a large loan or advance to purchase something. The info became public when the jeweler sued Thomas for never settling the bill. That tipped off the NCAA to start an investigation. Thomas & the jeweler ended up settling out of court & signing a non-disclosure agreement. With that in place, the NCAA basically killed their investigation because no one would talk to them. I don't think Coach K was ever directly linked, but it was an NCAA championship that "should" have been vacated for using an ineligible player.

I honestly don’t believe the FBI cares what Emmert thinks.

I meant if the NCAA investigated they would need Mark E approval to penalize a blue blood program. (The whole Jerry Tarkarnian "The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation" mindset).

K cheats but in smart ways that are hard to detect and prove he is involved. He had/has relationships with executives at GSK (they gave an unqualified Carlos Boozer Sr a 125k job).

There was also the situation with Chris Duhon and how his mom went from almost having her house seized in Slidell to a comfortable 2 bedroom place in Durham with an executive assistant job at a money management firm.

He cheats but again, he keeps an arms distance.

Granted, his downfall will be hiring Capel because Capel cheats.

Funny, with all that is going on, I can definitely see Duke, MSU, Kansas and Arizona or North Carolina all reaching this year’s Final Four. The NCAAs dream.

No idea but it won't be Painter. Regardless of what any of us think of him, he runs a clean program by all accounts.

Richard Pitino, Archie Miller - son and brother of big time cheaters.

I heard today that Grant Hill is on the review board. So there is no hope they get busted this time either

Archie Miller and Chris Mack, Sean's two head assistants and recruiters for years

Just to clarify from my earlier post. I don't know if Coach K has cheated or not. You could easily make a case that he didn't. Nothing has been proven. With his track record/legacy, doesn't need to.

The AAU circuit is so muddied with shoe companies and agents and the unfortunate situation some players and their families are in socioeconomically, you have what you have.

With consideration for the DC tendency to leak on Friday, we'll know more the day after tomorrow.

What I hate most is the cheaters may lose their titles, but the clean programs that lose to the cheaters never receive an opportunity to play for the vacated title.

Much like when the pros admit the ref blew the call. You can appeal and win your appeal but the game never goes back to the play to have a redo and start over. And the outcome of the game is never overturned! Dez Bryant must feel great his catch is now legal, but his team still lost!

If nothing came of Swanigan's reversal from MSU, then he is definitely clean. Although some IU fans still contend that Painter paid more for him than MSU causing the switch.

Barnes did not need any money and likely spent more raising Swanigan than he would have been paid. Plus, being found out having taken any money would likely have impacted his agency business in very negative way.

To do so would have been stupid and Barnes is not stupid. The IU fans are just unhappy that Purdue's program is way better than theirs and is likely to be for quite a while. The Archie honeymoon will soon end and the knives will be out.

For the record: I actually saved the thread that had the preseason predictions over there and it is very humorous to see how "revised" the claims of season's records are now claimed.

They are now becoming over zealous since RMK endorsed Archie in a tweet.
