We stand at 19 commits, which includes Jimmy Liston, if he does show up. It looks like, more than likely, we will sign a class closer to the 25 limit. If things go as planned, we will get Kendrick Gilbert’s commitment tomorrow. We still have to add a few more OL and a CB, maybe a LB or elite WR. That would fill out the class and still leave room if needed for portal pickups. A small change in our recruiting strategy since Mark Hagan came back, is stacking 4 DL per class. We now have more depth on DL than any position outside of TE. As everyone hear agrees our OL recruiting needs to take the next step, this is where we are behind to most teams in the B1G. I think we look for more of a type of OL, more than getting big uglies. For the program, this has to be the next step or we will continue to struggle to the run the ball. More speed in the backfield will help with the quick hitters. While King Dorue has some strength to him, he lacks high end speed like many of our RB’s do. The last 2 classes have added more speed in the backfield, maybe this will make the OL play look better. Just my thought on where we are after an onslaught of commits over the last month. Boiler UP!!
