Is this considered a top class? Any idea of where these players are ranked?

Bardin is an underrated and phenomenal setter who touches 10’3 and is still growing. High ceiling according to Shondell. 4/5 star recruit.

Tindall is the #1 ranked player in Indiana and top 20 nationally. Shondell has been following her for a long time and has big goals for her. She’ll start early in January which is always good.

Morgan Williams was a late get for Purdue and comes from an area that isn’t super-heavy in volleyball talent (southern Alabama). She’ll also start early and get some quality experience. She has some work to put in, but is going to be good.

Aniya Warren is a VERY recent get for Purdue after she originally committed to IU. She was the U-19 Team USA team captain and the “icing on the cake” in the words of Shondell. #1 ranked libero recruit in the country. The staff is very high on her and thinks she’ll be an instant difference maker.

Mattea Casale is the final commit and comes from Florida.

Overall, the class is very good and has a lot of talent. Very strong class to build on for the future.

Lockport is in the state semifinals along with my alma mater (Benet Academy) this weekend. Sounds like they should meet in the finals.

Listened to Dig City. In addition to what you posted, CDS also mentioned that he may look for a grad transfer MB for next year.

Dig City is the best Purdue sports podcast going. Coach Shondell is a great listen, and the host guy is informed, thoughtful, and asks great questions. He manages the podcast with a good pace and rhythm.
I look forward to these each week.
(And only one very brief ad in the middle of the session. Love that).

I stand corrected: Aniya Warren may live in Lockport, but she attends Benet Academy, so she's graduating with my son. Saw her on a list of committed athletes on National Signing Day that the school sent out. I had just assumed she went to Lockport from the original list.

Yep, it’s really good, I’ll try to catch the last 2 today at some point.

I listened a few minutes ago to the Dig City podcast, Palm does a great job, Coach was very excited about the recruits he could talk about, anyone know who the 5th one that committed but didn’t sign is?

Mattea Casale from Tampa, Florida. She’s a DS/L.

Announcers for IU/Nebraska VB game tonight said IU had a top 5 recruiting class last year and has one for this year also. Who did they get and how would such a lousy program get such great players all of a sudden? Did they pay bug NIL money?

I wonder if they still have Warren going there because most every site I looked at after this thread started has her still committed to IU.

Warren and Benet Academy in the IL 4A (best class) championship game tonight. I should have gone there instead of the football game.

I looked up one VB rating site. Only Tindall was 5*, THe Libero 'Warren' is way down and listed as a 4* and the others are all 3* rated very low. I thought Shondell said Warren was rated the #1 libero in the country. This site has Nebraska, Minnesota & Penn State in the top 10 And Illinois & IU way up there also. Any other ratings sites people have seen?

There are quite a few ranking sites you can use. Similar to basketball and other sports, what one scout or writer may see and evaluate in a player may be very different than another scout/writer.

Warren is an incoming All-American and Team USA player/captain. She’s definitely a 5 star. Bardin is a second team all-American and at a minimum a 4 star, but Shondell says she’s the most hyped setter recruit he’s had at Purdue.

Don’t let one ranking site ruin your expectations or views of this incoming class. They’re going to be VERY good with a few getting playing time early on in their careers.

Per the Purdue Volleyball page on Facebook, Tindall and Warren are AVCA first team All Americans, and Bardin is AVCA second team AA.

MaryKate Scheumann, 5’10”, DS/L, from Decatur, IN
Elle Schara, 5’11”, likely a DS/L, from Crown Point, IN
Sydni Vice, 6’4”, OH/RS, from Germantown, TN

That’s the class as of now, but a late pickup is always possible.

Purdue just landed Akasha Anderson a 6-3 Outside Hitter from Mich State, seemingly a very good player, she was all SEC while at Auburn. Guessing for sure 1 likely 2 more brought in.

I would guess 2-4 more players to be added. As of now, Purdue only has 4 pins (this includes Anderson and another will be a freshman) and two middles so Shondell desperately needs numbers.

Is Anderson good? I don’t follow this as closely as many, seems like a good get.

She’s a solid pickup. Not sure if she’ll end up playing opposite or outside, but she’s a good number and player to have.
They got her at 6-3 at the USC pickup that’s 6-4, solid start. Chloe’s one drawback was she was only 5-9/5-10, still sucks to lose her but she’s replaceable, Hudson was a brutal loss.
