Trump’s constant bashing of Dr Fauci

What does Europe have to do with the initial post? Nothing? Exactly
That is why I didn't respond to your initial post about Europe, but rather to one of your later childish posts in the thread. I was hoping to help you see beyond your simple and narrow-minded view of the pandemic by considering what has recently happened in the enlightened, modern countries of western Europe.

I won't waste time with a hope like that again because you are hopeless, 'dude'.

I agree that it was a pointless attack. Trump is often his own worst enemy. He gets distracted by things that don't matter and he ends up stepping on his own message, more often than not.

That having been said, Fauci has been a disaster so far during the CV-19 Pandemic. He's reversed field more times than Barry Sanders. He's 79 and served the country well, but he needs to retire. He's just enjoying the life of a celebrity now. He's worth over $500 Million, so it's not like he's going to have to clip coupons to make ends meet.

I like Birx a lot better. She's only 64.

Soooooo, this is a NEW virus. If you can’t figure out that the understanding of the virus changes as more is learned, then you need to check your ignorance at the door.

And if Fauci is that bad then why doesn’t Trump fire him? Is it because thankfully people smarter than Trump have told him how stupid that would be? You say he should retire, but you don’t give a legitimate reason for it except ageism. Trump is 74 and supposedly worth millions. Why doesn’t he retire? Silly.

Okay by me. I feel the same way about all you Trumpers. A total waste of time. Sayonara.

What I'm perplexed about is if Trump doesn't like someone, he usually fires them. How does Fauci still have a get out of jail free card? Thought Trump would have replaced him long ago. There must be a clause in his job description much like a life long pass similar to Supreme Court.
The reality is Dr. Fauci is 79 years old and doesn't need this crap. Why is he sticking around?
Ole' Joe "BuyDen" will keep him for sure as Fauci is older than "BuyDen".

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. If he keeps Fauci, he keeps wandering in circles, but if he fires him, Fauci becomes a martyr and all Hell breaks loose. It's a no win situation that he should avoid bringing up, but he can't help himself.

With every post, you affirm your position as the poster child for ignorance. Keep up the good work.

You upset that I called you out on your double-standard? You poor thing you.

Not upset at all. Just amazed that with your level of ignorance that you're able to feed yourself without causing physical damage with the utensils. Now get back to your delusions.

Current events man.

Scott Atlas, who joined the White House in August as a science adviser, had tweeted “Masks work? NO,” and said widespread use of masks is not supported.

The tweet violated a Twitter policy that prohibits sharing false or misleading misinformation about COVID-19 that could lead to harm, a company spokesperson said. The policy bans statements that have been confirmed to be false or misleading by experts such as public health authorities.

He cited actual data in his first post. Then followed up with a tweet that it is still recommended to wear masks when you can't socially distance inside.

Atlas and some other Stanford Scientists have been talking since March/April about the long term societal and economic impacts of lockdowns. He and others were absolutely blasted as being "anti-science" for that position. Today the WHO says lockdowns should be avoided as a mitigation method. Even Fauci at least temporarily has modified his position on lockdowns. In April the Scot Atlas's of the world were called fools for that stance. Today most of the world agrees with that stance.

Instead of limiting scientific debate, we should encourage it. We are living in an era now where only "group think" is allowed. Contrarian views have always been vital to scienctific discovery. Instead of censoring contrarians we out to let each side present data to support their case.

It wouldn't be that hard to do a few random controlled studies on cloth masks in the U.S.

Woops!

Dr. Deborah Birx has reportedly been trying to get controversial adviser Dr. Scott Atlas removed from the White House coronavirus task force.

A new report in The Washington Post describes the "discord on the coronavirus task force" that has reportedly "worsened" ever since the arrival of Atlas, a neuroradiologist who has no background in epidemiology. Atlas has reportedly "succeeded in largely sidelining" other doctors on the White House coronavirus task force, has challenged analysis from Birx and others with what experts have dismissed as "junk science," and is seen by colleagues as "ill-informed, manipulative and at times dishonest."

This morning Dr. Fauci’s “boss” was interviewed on NPR and he said “Dr. Fauci is the best infectious disease expert in the world” and that we are lucky to have him. He avoided and even said he does not want this issue to be political and that Dr Fauci should be listened to instead of people who know nothing about the science of infectious diseases. I do not understand why the people on this board cannot accept that Trump is not a scientist and certainly not an infectious disease specialist. It is disheartening that Purdue graduates do not understand this

It's cult over science.

These guys think 15 minutes of scrolling through snarky taeks from right wing Twitter is all it takes to make them an expert on literally everything.

I’d say that hundreds of thousands dead from a pandemic that is getting worse and that he doesn’t give a shit about is a bit more important at the moment but yeah sure.

What’s Joes solution? Oh yeah, mask mandates. How’s that work for states?

What’s Joes solution? Oh yeah, mask mandates. How’s that work for states?
If the dolt in charge would quit making fun of masks and quit holding rallies where hardly anyone wears masks maybe we’d find out. I mean look no further than the rose garden event as ground zero with your stupid whataboutism. Also, Joe isn’t president, so you can stop with the idiotic and pointless deflecting. Y’all bitch because we can’t have nice things but won’t do the things necessary to be able to have nice things.

Get your crying towels ready all you DEMS. It won't happen. When Joe gets beat, I hope you all stop your damn crying, dust yourselves off and pick a better candidate that doesn't accept the far left views that MOST of America cannot stand i.e. Riots, Looting, Defunding Police, helping to bail out rioters (KAMALA HARRIS and 13 of her staffers). Hating America has to stop and it should begin with most of you that have good common sense to find the middle ground that we all want.
I don't like Trump. He's cocky, but he wants Freedom more than your side does. Accept it.
Not sure he word most works here.

Still ducking the question about Europe, in other words. Can't think of a way to blame the euro resurgence on Trump?
It’s funny that you are using Europe’s current situation as some evidence against Fauci. Europe had completely tried to return to normal and now look at them. And it’s coming to the US.

Its disheartening to me that Purdue graduates don't understand the "big picture". Fauci by all accounts is respected in his profession. The facts are he pushed for much longer lockdowns in the U.S. He has praised governors that followed his advice of longer lockdowns, and criticized governors that looked at the big picture, and opened up their states. The states that had longer lockdowns as a general rule did not have lower Covid 19 death per capita numbers, and they now have higher unemployment numbers. Even the WHO now essentially says lockdowns should be avoided at all costs. Because they cause devastating long term societal and economic problems. We have too many college graduates that think sacrificing in Covid 19 era just means working from home and doing zoom calls, instead of going to the office. Fauci himself said he realized the "inconveniences" of lockdowns and people that had lockdown fatigue. Throwing people into poverty, one in 4 college age kids contemplating suicide at one point, kids that aren't getting any education now......aren't "inconveniences".

Why is this so hard to understand? Governors are CEO's, they have to listen to scientists, economists, mental health experts, understand impacts on education, and many other things when making decisions in Covid 19. Yet we have a group of college graduates that want to follow every Fauci recommendation.

So what you are eluding to is the only republicans are getting COVID due to them not wearing masks. I highly doubt that is the case.

Most people aren’t making the kids wear masks and I expect there is a given % of Democrats who also avoid wearing masks.

But...per the Democrat narrative, it’s all Trumps fault...just like the deaths in NY were Trumps fault and not Cuomo’s because Trumps the President.

Keep preaching the Democrat narrative

It is difficult to argue with an emotional child-like person such as you, but if you can calm down for a moment, how do you explain the covid resurgence in Europe? Why haven't the socially advanced Europeans had greater success against covid than they have to date?

That's rather easy. The scientists and the doctors have said all along that the world would be seeing a second wave in the fall and that is what Europe is experiencing. That's how pandemics work until you can get a vaccine. Unfortunately for the US, we are seeing a third spike, and yet we are still in our first wave. We never got it down to a manageable level like Europe did. So to compare us to Europe is like comparing apples to oranges.

Is this Dr Atlas?

Putin agrees with you.
I doubt it, but why would that matter?

Do you think we should base our foreign policy on what Russia or any other country likes and dislikes -- or should we base it strictly on what is in the best interests of the US?

everything trump does seems to be pointed at the economy rather than people. as for Fauci, as much as trump wants to fire him, he can't legally do so. Unlike his other cronies, Fauci is an actual federal government employee, not a political appointed one. there was a court case this year that said it all. I encourage you to look it up. Fox news was being sued for putting out misinformation. Fox Nws won that court case. what was their defense? Of course it is rather easy if you misunderstand the rather easy point I was making. I did not compare Europe to the US. If I were to compare a country to the Euro countries, I would compare South Korea, which has done vastly better than the Euros or any other countries. What did they do that the Euros did not to get such a far better result so far?

My point to that particular child-like poster was simply that the pandemic is far more complicated than he seems to understand- and if he doesn't think so, look at what is happening in the advanced western Europe countries right now.

South Korea locked down right from the get go.

The OP is about Fauci and Trump’s callousness towards him.

Not Europe.

So if you are not claiming that Europe followed Fauci advice and has an impending wave then you’re deflecting.
I agreed (thumbs up) with the poster about Trump's treatment of Fauci, but I disagreed with the poster's simple-minded views on the pandemic.

South Korea locked down right from the get go.
Not that simple by a long shot. Read the link if you want to know.

But, much of it has to do with centralized control by the SK government, which is also a characteristic of European countries - but not at all of the US, where we have 50 states making their own decisions. So, for example, we had a truly incompetent governor ordering nursing homes to accept covid patients even though there were many safer options.

Yep, we were told by the experts on this board, that Europe had the virus under control. They don't seem to grasp this thing doesn’t hit all countries at the exact same time. Heck even within the U.S., the peak in sunbelt was different than the peak in northeast.

Imo the big Europe countries as a whole (France, Spain, Italy, Germany, UK) is really the only group that you can even try to compare to U.S. (Somewhat similar style of life and govt, Covid 19 numbers are likely Somewhat accurate, etc etc). Even then it is far from an exact comparison (i.e. more obese people in US).

The Covid 19 death per capita rates are fairly similar between that Euro group and U.S. The U.S. economy has fared better than that Euro group this year.

There's this myth that big countries (U.S., Euro group) can control the virus first, and then after that the economy will be fixed. That's just not how it works with most viruses. You have to be able to keep states economies open and learn to live with the virus. Take steps to protect the most vulnerable, but the rest of the population needs to live their lifes.

how do you explain the covid resurgence in Europe? Why haven't the socially advanced Europeans had greater success against covid than they have to date?

Correct me if I am wrong, but this was your initial question.

And the answer to your question is that the EU has had great success to date, especially compared to us. The numbers bear this out. Unlike us, they got it down to a manageable level before the second wave started coming in this fall, as predicted. You and I both know that until a vaccine is introduced, all efforts are going to fail to some extent, and we have set the standard on failure. Again, the numbers bear this out.

For your second paragraph, see my response and link to IndySS a few posts above.

Sigh, I was not comparing the US to Europe, which was your first point of confusion, and in response I told you if I were comparing Europe it would be to South Korea because the countries all have centralized governments - unlike the US.

I don't know why we have done such a poor job. In fact, I am not sure we have (I know, I know, 200k deaths...) because I don't have anything to compare it with it other than police states like China whose data cannot be believed, or else relatively small (pop and area) Euro countries with a centralized government, making them very different from the much larger US with a decentralized government. I am perfectly willing to agree Trump has done a lousy job, but I have no real good basis of comparison - do you?
