Tom Allen = Poor Mans Tom Crean

What's your prediction for wins? You're a level-headed poster. Do you think iu has a solid defense but average offense? I think iu won't have as good of an offense this year. They are definitely worse at RB and while they have good WR's, I think their o-like won't be nearly as talented either.
IU's offense with Grandpa DeBord will be worse than under Wilson and the defense will suffer because of it. Better offensive schemes/coordinators still torched IU last year.

I'd take Nick Holt as DC over Tom Allen or anyone IU has any day of the week. Just look at Holt's background.

I think iu can get to 6 wins. I'm saying that your pre-conference schedule is very manageable. If you had to play Louisville, Missouri, and Ohio instead of FIU, Georgia Southern, and Virginia, you'd be in a tougher spot. That's a cake pre-conference schedule.
Yeah well, if you had to play OSU,MICH, and Penn St. every year then i would agree about the schedules. You conference schedule is a cake walk.

You also get Rutgers and Maryland in your division. They are historically weaker than almosst any team in Purdue's division. There is cyclicality. Nebraska was a power in the past as strong as UM and O$U.

We play Michigan this year. We play Wisconsin every year. I am glad that IU is our protected rival since we own IU historically. This 4-year anomaly will fade away after this season. We will beat IU at home under Brohm.

I think 7 is possible for this year. Most of the experts that get paid to study this have IU in the top 25 of defense so I think that is attainable especially with most everyone being back from last year. Question on D will be getting pressure on the QB but Hagen turned what everyone thought would be a weak D line into one that was pretty disruptive last year. I honestly think the offense will be better this year. I didn't think it was that good last year and part of that was because Wilson and or Johns got to vanilla or predictable at times. Plus I never really liked Devine Redding at RB. Thought he was too slow to hit holes. I think Lagow from all accounts will be much better this year because Debord is giving him more options this year. Obviously the WR corp just got rated the top of the Big Ten at their position. Should be a fun year and can't wait for the 31st with the Gameday crew and all the hoopla surrounding the OSU game. Great opportunity for IU to show out.

I think IU will probably win 6 games this year, but I can also see a regression to 5 wins and a progression to 7 wins. The defense should be as good as last year if not better. That depends on how the defensive line comes together after they were a pleasant surprise last year. The offense, as others have said, is the big unknown. Not worried at all about the receivers or the running backs. Worried (or curious) about the QB and the offensive line. In the end, Lagow's performance will dictate regression or progression.

My predictions include wins against Georgia Southern and FIU and a loss at UVA. In conference I think IU beats Rutgers and Illinois bringing the total to 5 wins. It could end there. The key to 5 or 7 are Maryland who I think is beatable, MSU who I also think is beatable, and Purdue who I know is beatable, but with the new coach and the game at Purdue, the better team doesn't always win.

Fire away!

This is the typical IU fanbase. Every preseason, you guys say "This WILL be our year to breakout in FB". Then reality sets in by the time BIG play starts. This season reality will hit immediately, because Urban Meyer (and Wilson) will want to make a statement coming out of the shoot.

DeBord isn't going to have anywhere near as good of an offense as Wilson. Allen got rid of your OL Coach, Greg Frey, who as one of the best on Wilson's staff. If your OL can't protect or run block, that offense will go nowhere. Devine Redding rushed for over 1,000 yards last season, right?

People started to solve Allen's defense as last season wore on and IU gave up some big yards and points. IU will not have a Top25 defense. You guys are weak at DT and people will run all over you. Marcus Oliver had to "retire" at LB.

The first game of the season is more like great opportunity for OSU to give IU a beatdown.

Finally, some reality. IU is a 4 - 5 win team this season. MSU and Purdue will both get revenge. The defense will not be better, because the offense will be worse (Allen cut Greg Frey which was a mistake.) and the defense will wear down more. I predict Lagow will be running for his life because the OL will not protect or run block as well as the past couple of seasons. He is not fleet of foot.

You guys have issues at DT.

Allen cut Greg Frey? That's news to me as well as anyone who knows anything about IU Football.

OK, it was a "mutual decision". Regardless, Frey is no longer there, and even Loosier Nation has to admit that him being gone is a definite loss. IU's OL and OL player development was one of the best thing's Wilson's staff did at IU.

Yes,part of their show in Bloomington on August 31st will be honoring Lee Corso Only IU would recognize and praise a Coach who won less than 40 per cent of his games at their school.

It has been 1,356 days since Purdue has owned the bucket.

Loved Greg Frey but Hiller is no slouch. He put 5 guys in the NFL in his 9 years at Arkansas State.

Longest streak ever is only 4 years for you guys and it only happened because Purdue had the worst coach in its history. Even average Danny Hope won 3 of 4 bucket games. Purdue has 9 streaks of at least 4 wins in the history of the series. Think about that for a second.

That was in the past. I live in the present.

Don't forget gbm Purdue fans get on IU fans all the time for living in the past when it comes to basketball yet that's all they do when it comes to Purdue football

Because 4 years isn't ancient history? We've owned you as recently as 2013 in football. This is something short-term not long-term.

He WAS a great coach for IU because he made losing so much fun.

at this point
i am just glad iu and purdue fans are able to argue about their football programs again
