Only one reason to leave.....$$$$ Man, with his buyout and these last two stops, he can open up a car dealership anywhere he wants to.
I actually think that Allen's style and Franklin's style probably clashed. Dabo and Allen are "Godlier" in their approach to coaching.
By all accounts, Allen’s a good man, and Dabo seems to be also.
Franklin … seems like a tool.
Allen is and always has been a spaz.
I’d kill to have a coach like Franklin at Purdue.
I guess. From everything I hear he’s an OK guy but very “camera ready” and on at all times.
And considering he’s still never really won a huge game…
We’d no doubt be better. But how much better and at what cost?

I’d LOVE to be bitching about another 10-win season, another top 10 ranking, and a frustrating collapse in the CFP final four….
Other than the 2000 Rose Bowl ( and maybe the Tyler Trent OSU miracle) , I’m hard pressed to name any Purdue game in 50 years that has even approached the level of “hugeness” that Franklin has routinely gotten Penn State to.
As to the “cost” what are you referring to? I haven’t heard anything slimy attributed to Franklin, other than that he rubs certain people the wrong way.
Maybe they can teach him the courage to maintain outside leverage and properly seal the edge, instead of ineffectively shooting inside on every play, leaving the perimeter totally un-defended over and over again…

Former Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin, now at Penn State, has been accused of reaching out a to an alleged rape victim days after an alleged sexual assault that led to the dismissal of four football players at Vanderbilt.

In the scheme, he was taught/told/coached to do that.
The MLB was supposed to then contain the outside. While Walters was here the LBs were either too slow or not talented enough to execute on that making the OLBs look worse than they actually were.
You could see the dilemma in his eyes late in the year. Hop inside like he’s coached to do and let a big run go past or react to the play, set the edge himself and get benched by his coach for not running the scheme.
There were a few games at the end of the year where he made the right read, made the right play but got his butt Sat down by Walters because he did t do what he was told.
That was Walters tenure here in a Nutshell!
